Each week we will bring you the ten most popular Netflix films across the globe as we aim always to provide the very Best of Netflix. In the second week of April 2022, some relatively newer releases have taken over the charts.
Concentrating solely on the week that has just passed, we bring you the ten most popular films on Netflix, with millions of hours streamed as a handy indicator for what everyone will be talking about in the office and at home.
For the fifth week in a row Shawn Levy’s sci-fi time travel flick, The Adam Project has featured on the list with nearly 11 million hours of streaming. While it was in the topmost spot till last week, the film is now in the second spot on the list.
Starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular Adam and Walker Scobell as his younger self, the film also features Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana etc. The Adam Project is now the fourth most popular Netflix Original ever.
The top spot on the chart is occupied by the 2022 Arie Posin film The In Between which features Joey King in the lead. She stars as Tessa, who mourns her boyfriend’s earth and tries to find signals to reconnect with him and find the closure their romantic story deserves. Although it is not very highly rated on Rotten Tomatoes or IMDb, Netflix viewers can seemingly resonate well with this story of love, loss, longing and depression, for they have viewed the film for more than 26 million hours this week.
Judd Apatow’s satirical comedy The Bubble features a massive ensemble cast, namely Karen Gillan, Leslie Mann, Keegan-Michael Key, Pedro Pascal etc. It revolves around the shooting schedule of a franchise film during the pandemic, clearly parodying the Jurassic Park franchise. With hackneyed gags and overdone pandemic plot points, the film misses the mark in our opinion. However, the film continues to be on the top ten charts for the second time in a row with a viewing count of a little less than 10 million hours.
The Shrek franchise is performing incredibly well on Netflix as the viewers cannot seem to get enough of the green and grumpy ogre and his escapades. While Shrek Forever After has been on the chart for the second time in two weeks and focuses on Shrek’s family life, the first film at the ninth spot has been on the charts for the fifth time in a row.
Mark Wahlberg’s old 2005 classic Four Brothers caught viewer attention this week, debuting at the sixth spot with a watch count of a little more than 8 million views. Directed by John Singleton, this revenge thriller has been revived on Netflix with its release this month despite its lukewarm reception at the box office previously.
Some new entrants on the list also include the 2018 film How It Ends and Jennifer Lopez’s 2002 flick Enough.
