Watch this forgotten Mark Wahlberg chart-topper on Netflix

Mark Wahlberg is a very busy man now. After getting paid nearly $30 million for Spenser Confidential by Netflix, the actor recently appeared in Uncharted with Tom HollandWahlberg is busy promoting his other films, including Me Time with Kevin Hart, another upcoming 2022 Netflix release. 

Wahlberg will also be seen in Father Stu and Arthur the King. While he is busy with promotional events, a forgotten, and nearly 15-year-old, classic is now topping charts on Netflix and trending for days. 

On March 1st, 2022, Netflix added Wahlberg’s 2007 film Shooter to their shelves. Within a week since its addition, the film reached the Top 10 list of the streamer. 

This action film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and is based on Stephen Hunter’s 1993 novel, Point of Impact. The novel is loosely based on the real-life experiences of Carlos Hathcock, a sniper. 

Hunter’s protagonist Gunnery Sergeant Bob Lee Swagger became a prevalent figure and featured in eleven other novels, the latest of which debuted in 2021. 

Fuqua’s film was based on Jonathan Lemkin’s screenplay, who adapted the script from the book. Lemkin is known for films like The Devil’s Advocate, 90210 etc. 

Wahlberg plays the role of Swagger, a Marine sniper who is roped in to protect the President of the United States during a possible assassination threat. When another diplomat gets murdered, Swagger is quickly framed and is forced to be on the run. Swagger races against time to clear his name and assert his innocence. 

The film features other prominent actors, including Michael Pena, Kate Mara, Danny Glover, Rhona Mitra, Elias Koteas etc.
