The 10 most popular films on Netflix this week: April 2022

Each week we will bring you the ten most popular Netflix films across the globe as we aim always to provide the very Best of Netflix. This week, as we transitioned from March to April 2022, new Netflix releases have taken over the charts.

Concentrating solely on the week that has just passed, we bring you the ten most popular films on Netflix, with millions of hours streamed as a handy indicator for what everyone will be talking about in the office and at home.

For the fourth week in a row, Ryan Reynolds has been making history on Netflix with his recent release The Adam Project. Still reigning in the top spot on Netflix with a whopping 17 million hour stream, this Shawn Levy film is a classic sci-fi time travel film that also stars Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana and Walker Scobell.

Reynolds’ other film with Michael Bay, titled 6 Underground has also been on the charts for three weeks now and has been streamed for more than eight million hours. Despite not being a commercial success, the film is seemingly quite popular with Netflix viewers.

Among new releases, Judd Apatow’s satirical comedy The Bubble has taken the second spot on the chart since its release on April 1st, 2022. It has been streamed for an impressive 12 million hours. The film has a massive ensemble cast, namely Leslie Mann, Karen Gillan, Iris Apatow, Maria Bakalova, David Duchovny, Pedro Pascal, Keegan-Michael Key, and James McAvoy, Vir Das etc.

The Bubble is a satirical take on the megalomania within Hollywood, the haughty nature of film actors and the effect of social media all grouped together in a hotel during the pandemic for the shooting of a not-so-fictitious dinosaur film, clearly parodying Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park franchise.

The third spot, too, has been occupied by the latest true-crime release Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King. Viewers for 12 million hours, the title has taken over the crown from shows like Inventing Anna and Bad Vegan, adding yet another feather to Netflix’s reputation for creating mind-boggling true-crime content.

Will Smith still continues to trend following the infamous slap incident at the Oscars and his subsequent resignation from the Academy. His film Gemini Man has been trending third time in a row as well.
