A popular 'Emily in Paris' actor is joining Netflix’s 'The Crown'

Peter Morgan’s polarising Netflix show The Crown has amassed a massive fan following while dramatising the events of the British royal family during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

The show has garnered quite a bit of controversy ahead of its fifth season, which is scheduled to premiere sometime in November 2022.

Season five is the penultimate season of the show and will focus, along with season six, on the darkest years of the Queen’s regime and will provide an intimate insight into the royal family against the ever-changing landscape and socio-political backdrop.

With secrets, scandals and more adding flavour to the series, the fifth season will emphasise details regarding the tumultuous marriage between Princess Diana and Prince Charles before venturing into Diana’s untimely, tragic demise.

The new cast members for the last two seasons include Imelda Staunton as the Queen, Elizabeth Debicki as Diana, Dominic West as Charles, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles, Humayun Saeed as Dr Hasnat Khan among others.

However, Netflix has added a very popular figure from another iconic Netflix Original, Emily in Paris to the fifth season of The Crown

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who played Emily’s Parisian boss and strict critic on the show, will allegedly be seen in a “small” role as Monique Ritz. Although the actress did not confirm the role, it is speculated that she will be seen as Charles Ritz’s widow who sold the famous Parisian hotel to Dodi Fayed’s father, Mohamed Al Fayed. Talking about this new adventure, Philippine said, “it was a lot of fun and I was so, so happy to be in it.”

She praised The Crown for its brilliant narrative techniques and filmography. She said, “every episode is like a little film on its own. It’s crazily well written.”

Emily in Paris, starring Lily Collins, Ashley Park and Lucas Bravo, has meanwhile been renewed for a consecutive third and fourth season, much to the delight of showrunner and creator, Darren Star.

Meanwhile, season six of this Emmy-winning show will reportedly begin filming in August 2022. Here is everything we know about The Crown season five.
