Bridgerton fans are already excited about the arrival of the second season on Netflix on March 25th, 2022. Indian fans will be pleased to know that the show will feature a particular Bollywood song.

Created by Chris Van Dusen and Shonda Rhimes, this Regency-era show focuses on the wealthy upper echelons of aristocratic London, their social lives, extravagant lifestyles and torrid romance affairs. The series is based on Julia Quinn’s eponymous novel series.

After the first season focused on Daphne Bridgerton’s love story with the Duke of Hastings, Simon Bassett, the second season will focus on Anthony Bridgerton’s romantic pursuit of Kate Sharma, a feisty and spirited woman.

The first season of Bridgerton had an assorted playlist, featuring various song instrumental covers, including that of Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and others. At the TUDUM event, the musical playlist for the second season has been revealed that includes a popular Bollywood song from a well-known Hindi film by Karan Johar, titled Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

Sung by the legendary late singer Lata Mangeshkar, the series will feature Kris Bowers’ orchestral cover of the film’s eponymous title track. The 2001 film starred superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bacchan, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Jaya Bacchan. It was a heartwarming tale of family, love, misunderstandings, conflict and making up.

“Thrilled” about the upcoming season, Van Dusen said about the playlist, “I chose all of these songs for very specific reasons. Each one is incredibly powerful and deeply emotional in its own special way. I always try many different songs for any one scene before landing on the perfect one to use.”

Talking about the Hindi song cover, he said, “It’s a first for Bridgerton — a cover of a Bollywood song called “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” which I’m really excited about. It’s a very beautiful cover.”

The upcoming season will also feature covers of various other songs. They include Nirvana’s ‘Stay Away’, Harry Styles’ ‘Sign of the Times’, Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’, Madonna’s track ‘Material Girl’, Rihanna’s song ‘Diamonds’, Robyn’s ‘Dancing on my Own’, Calvin Harris’ tune ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ etc.

The reprising cast of this Emmy-nominated show includes Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Adjoa Andoh, Phoebe Dynevor, Lorraine Ashbourne, Bessie Carter, Harriet Cains, Ruth Gemmell, Martins Imhangbe, Florence Hunt, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Luke Thompson, Golda Rosheuvel, Polly Walker, Will Tilston and Julie Andrews.

They will be joined by a new cast comprising Simone Ashley, Charothra Chandran, Shelley Conn, Rupert Young and Calam Lynch.

Bridgerton season two will premiere on Netflix on March 25th, 2022.
