Netflix’s period drama 'Bridgerton' receives 12 Emmy nominations

Netflix’s raunchy period drama, Bridgerton, has received a whopping twelve Emmy nominations for its first season.

Among the big nods that it secured from the Emmy’s are best drama series and best leading actor in a drama for the leading Lothario of the show, Duke of Hastings Simon Bassett, played by up-and-coming star Regé-Jean Page.

Elsewhere, the Shondaland Regency-era tale picked up nominations for period costumes, cinematography, casting, directing and original title music among others.

For those who haven’t seen the show, it is a story of “wealth, lust and betrayal set against the backdrop of Regency-era England, seen through the eyes of the powerful Bridgerton family.”

The second season of the show is currently being filmed in the UK, with a third and fourth already signed off on by the streaming giant. Not surprising when you consider that it is Netflix’s biggest show having been watched by a record-breaking 82 million households.

Fans of the show will be able to see whether it can turn those nominations into wins at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday the 19th of September.
