The five best movies to stream on Netflix this Sunday

Evil Dead Burn (Sébastien Vaniček, 2026)

Marking the sixth instalment in the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Burn is a supernatural horror movie made for just what the season demands. Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, the gritty movie follows Joseph Price as he restarts the probe into the occult investigation his late grandfather, Benjamin, began about the Necronomicon and the clandestine group called the Circle of the Wise Men. But the investigation involving the Kandarian Dagger soon attracts demonic forces, including Deadites viewers already recognise from the original franchise.

At the same time, Alice Price deals with an increasingly abusive marriage to Will, and one of the more tense confrontations culminates with the latter speeding off in a drunk state and facing a possessed entity head-on. While the supernatural confrontation results in a gory death, the demon transfers itself into Will’s body. Evil Dead Burn centres on the supernatural unravelling after Will’s death as an unwilling Alice finds herself at a family gathering at the secluded Price family vacation home amid a full-fledged hunt for the hidden dagger.

Final Destination Bloodlines (Adam B Stein and Zach Lipovsky, 2025)

Serving as the sixth instalment in the popular Final Destination franchise, Final Destination Bloodlines tells the story of college-goer Stefani Reyes, an inheritor of uncanny premonitions from her grandmother, Iris Campbell, who saved herself and others from a 1968 collapse at the Skyview tower. While Iris may have cheated Death’s patterns, it returns decades later to systematically execute her surviving bloodline according to their age.

Although Iris’s visions gave birth to a bloodline that was never supposed to exist in the first place, Death is on a mission to eliminate her descendants one by one in the present day. Final Destination Bloodlines follows Stefani as she and her family track down William Bludworth, a survivor of the 1968 skyscraper incident, who runs them down the two well-known methods to escape Death’s hit list, leading them on a race against time.

Reporting Live (Dhruv Tripathi, 2026)

If you loved the Hindi-language Netflix Original crime thriller Shaque: Trust No One, you should watch Reporting Live, also starring Parineeti Chopra. The gripping new movie opens with a fatal inciting incident where a bridge collapse in Visargaon claims several lives, including residents and school children, prompting Azaad Bharati reporter Sandhya Yadav and cameraman Vinod to dig deep into the tragedy.

With help from local whistleblowers like Amol, they discover the incident was caused by foundation erosion from an illegal sand-mining mafia. Reporting Live follows Sandhya and newsroom editors as they fight to defend the truth and bring it to the surface, while the company’s compromised owner leads a powerful campaign to bury the story in the face of life threats from a tycoon’s checkered empire.

Death of a Unicorn (Alex Scharfman, 2025)

If the Sunday marathon looks a bit too spooky and serious, cleanse your palate with the dark-comedy horror, Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. Directed by Alex Scharfman, the 2025 movie now streaming on Netflix follows pharmaceutical executive Elliot Kintner and his estranged teen daughter Ridley as they embark on a road trip to a secluded Canadian Rockies estate to meet Elliot’s wealthy boss, Odell.

But on their journey, they accidentally run over a baby unicorn. After they bring the unicorn to the Leopold estate, the family and their research team learn that the unicorn’s blood, flesh, and horn have magical healing powers, prompting Odell to monetise the creature and harvest its horn in an attempt to mass-produce it. However, when the baby unicorn’s parents track the scent to the estate, what follows is a tremendous rampage no one saw coming.

Sacrifice (Romain Gavras, 2026)

Lastly, if you’re late to the Netflix movie party, Sunday is just the time to catch up on Romain Gavras’ dark comedy-action movie, Sacrifice. It centres on fading movie star Mike Tyler on a mission to salvage his public image after a viral breakdown as he attends a glamorous climate-change charity gala on an isolated Greek island, hosted by the world’s most prosperous tech billionaire Ben Bracken and his wife Gloria.

But amidst the glitzy gala, a radical cult leader, Joan and her armed group storm the gala and abduct three hostages to fulfil a prophecy. Believing an active volcano on the island is set to erupt and trigger a global extinction, Sacrifice follows Joan and her group as they take the three hostages through the rugged terrain of the active volcano to perform an ancient blood-atonement ritual.
