The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: April 2022

April 2022 has had quite a promising start! Every week Best of Netflix will bring to you the list of the ten most popular series on Netflix across the globe. From new releases to certain old ones, some of these Netflix shows have been reigning the charts for weeks and generating conversations on social media.

This week, with a whopping nearly 116 million hours of streaming, Bridgerton season two has topped the charts for the third time in a row. Produced by Shonda Rhimes and created by Chris Van Dusen, adapted from Julia Quinn’s novel series, this Regency-era period drama is surely managing to retain viewers’ attention who are dedicating an ungodly amount of hours to watch the show.

While the second season stars new actors like Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran while chronicling the romantic pursuits of the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony, it has mellowed down the sexual content, focusing on the sexual tension and forbidden glances instead.

The first season that focused on Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne Bridgerton and her relationship with the brooding Duke of Hastings has taken up the third spot the third time in a row. The first season had debuted back in December 2020 and remained Netflix’s most-watched English-language show ever since.

The second spot on the chart has been taken up by a Love Is Blind spin-off, titled The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. having been viewed for 43 million hours, it seems like viewers are getting a kick out of watching pre-marital jitters and bickering couples where one is confident about the nuptials while the other is seemingly getting cold feet.

Anna Delvey dominates the charts on the fifth spot for the ninth time in a row with Shonda Rhimes’ limited series Inventing Anna. Starring Julia Garner as the notorious SoHo scammer and fake German heiress, and Anna Chlumsky as the journalist who investigates the fascinating life of Anna Delvey, viewers cannot seem to get enough of her antics.

UK’s formerly loved and most prolific sexual abuser Jimmy Savile, now revealed to be a PR adviser to Prince Charles has made his way onto the fourth spot and the harrowing documentary has been watched for nearly 17 million hours.

He is closely followed by the fast-talking lawyer of Breaking Bad’s Walter White, Saul Goodman in the fifth season of Better Call Saul. Bob Odenkirk’s Goodman will make a final return in the sixth and final season that will also feature Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad
