This new Netflix reality show seems to be a ‘Love is Blind’ spinoff

Netflix’s speed-dating reality show Love is Blind has a steady fan following. The viewers enjoy seeing the contestants build connections with potential romantic partners without ever meeting them.

Created by Brian Smith and Timothy Baker, these contestants willingly partake in this “experiment” where they sign up for a romantic rendezvous with absolute strangers they talk to over social media. The show has garnered a large fan following with unbridled melodrama, tension, and soap opera-like conflicts.

Hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the show debuted its second season in February and has already been renewed for a third, given its staggering viewership ratings. Although Netflix has not billed the upcoming reality show, viewers feel like the forthcoming ten-episode show The Ultimatum is a spinoff to Love is Blind

During the reunion special of Love is Blind, the hosts announced the arrival of The Ultimatum, which is helmed by the same team. However, this show is based on couples aiming for marriage, the inevitable disasters, pre-marital jitters and cold feet.

According to Netflix’s official logline, the show will focus on six different couples about to get married, where one partner is sure while the other is quite jittery. “An ultimatum is issued — and in just over eight weeks, they must commit to marriage or move on.”

The description continues, “In the meantime, each will choose a new potential partner from one of the other couples, in a life-changing opportunity to get a glimpse of two different possible futures.”

Netflix released the nearly two-minute-long teaser trailer on March 4th, 2022. The show will debut on April 6th, 2022, with the finale and reunion episode premiering on April 13th, 2022.
