Concentrating solely on the week that has just passed, we bring you the ten most popular films on Netflix, with millions of hours streamed as a handy indicator for what everyone will be talking about in the office and at home.
Although people have voiced their concerns over the growing popularity of the 2020 film 365 Days for glamorising and fetishising rape, kidnapping and Stockholm syndrome via gratuitous amounts of sex scenes, the film has been renewed for two consecutive sequels, of which 365 Days: This Day premiered at the beginning of the month.
Although the viewers have watched the film for a staggering (nearly) 78 hours, the film has received zero ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
365 Days, too, has appeared in the fourth spot in the charts. Viewers have been complaining about loose narratives, copious amounts of sex scenes and a general unlikeable premise and uninteresting characters, asking Netflix to stop embarrassing themselves further with Massimo’s utterance of “babygirl”.
Six decades after her untimely demise, Marilyn Monroe is still a raging enigma as this pop-cultural icon’s death is explored in the latest documentary The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes which has been viewed for a little over 15 million hours. The documentary attempts to uncover the truth by “piecing together her final weeks, days, and hours through previously unheard recordings of those who knew her best” by taking a look at her glamorous yet troubled life and offering “ a new perspective on that fateful night.”
Shawn Levy’s sci-fi time travel film The Adam Project has already broken Netflix records as one of the best film debuts on the streamer. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana and Walker Scobell, the film has cemented its position on the charts for the eighth time in a row.
