Netflix releases trailer for a controversial ‘365 Days’ sequel

When Netflix released the erotic and controversial film 365 Days in 2020, the world was divided over its reception. While some found the film incredibly sexy and raunchy, others expressed their distaste for the film as it glamourized rape, kidnapping and Stockholm syndrome.

However, due to its massive popularity, the film had been renewed for two consecutive sequels, of which the first sequel titled 365 Days: This Day has recently released its trailer on Netflix ahead of its release on April 27th, 2022.

Based on Polish author Blanka Lipisinka’s trilogy, the first film focused on an American woman, Laura’s life and how it drastically changed after she piqued the interest of a mafioso leader who abducted her and gave her a full year to fall for him.

Compared to Fifty Shades of Grey, the film received great flak and criticism for fetishising rape, assault and kidnapping which could leave a twisted representation of those heinous acts in the minds of viewers.

Despite the power imbalance in the first film, the second film shows the duo to be in a seemingly consensual relationship, with Laura often assuming the lead in bed.

Directed by Barbara Bialows, the trailer shows how their relationship will be jeopardised by the mafioso leader aka Massimo’s family and their criminal ties as well as Laura’s growing friendship with a mysterious man who is seemingly interested in her.

The film promises “more extraordinarily steamy encounters” as indicated by a few clips as well as “bitter jealousy and dangerous betrayals”. By the looks of it, it might uncover some dangerous liaisons, past secrets, infidel thoughts and failing relationships.

365 Days: This Day will release on Netflix on April 27th, 2022.
