Five Netflix releases to keep an eye out for this week
It is officially that time of the week when you don’t know whether to commit professionally by taking your boss’s advice to curate a workweek schedule or prioritise your personal unwinding by logging in to Netflix to get that weekly roster ready.
Well, if it’s the former, the promotion is probably guaranteed, and if it’s the latter, good times are. But if you opt to balance both, then you’ve clearly understood the assignment.
Although the debut week of September brought several high-profile releases on its coattails, this marks the first full week of the month.
While it’s only natural that the streaming giant will go all out with the five Netflix releases to keep an eye out for this week, the question is: are you ready?
Five Netflix releases to watch out for this week
Fauda (Assaf Bernstein, Rotem Shamir, and Omri Givon, 2015-Present)
Scheduled to arrive September 8th, the fifth season of the hit Israeli thriller Fauda takes place two years after the events of October 7th, 2023, as Doron confronts inner and real demons when an old pal’s unsanctioned revenge mission in Marseille, France, pulls Doron into a dangerous deep-cover operation. Although the 11-episode season is primarily set in 2025, two episodes take viewers back to October 7th, two years ago.
As Fauda returns to Netflix three years after its fourth season premiere, we find the fighters in the foreground struggling with their trauma. But at a fragile time like this, they’re forced to step up and embark on a deadly race against the clock to prevent a catastrophic attack on Israel, which allows them to confront the true cost of fighting the war after the war. So, expect an action-packed September starter pack, all thanks to Netflix.
Why Did I Get Married Again? (Tyler Perry, 2026)
Next in line is Tyler Perry’s long-awaited threequel, Why Did I Get Married Again?, releasing on Netflix on September 9th. The comedy-drama film brings back most of its original faces for yet another emotionally chaotic getaway, and if you’re a Perry fan, you’d better be here for the attendance. The first film, released in 2007, was adapted from Perry’s stage play about four couples navigating their marriage.
Meanwhile, the 2010 sequel had them taking a trip to the Bahamas. However, Why Did I Get Married Again? focuses on the generation to follow. In the upcoming comedy-drama, the group of couples reunite after some time apart to celebrate Marcus and Angela’s daughter’s forthcoming wedding. But as they realise just how much has stayed the same as they’ve changed, passing their legacies on to their children, they return to the age-old burning question: “Why did they get married… again?”
Call My Agent! The Movie (Emilie Noblet, 2026)
If you’re missing the chaotic energy of ASK agents, say no more! Call My Agent! The Movie is officially touching down on Netflix on September 10th, bringing back the old team who made the four-season series run unforgettable for fans. The forthcoming film, set five years after the conclusion of the fan-favourite television series, opens with a massive career pivot for Andréa Martel, as she sprints back to business to continue the story viewers never really got over.
Call My Agent! The Movie finds Andréa getting her ducks in a row for a role behind the camera as an emerging director preparing for her feature directorial debut. But since that journey is not a cakewalk, expect it to arrive crammed with its fair share of mishaps. As she loses out on her lead actor days, just in time for the cameras to roll, Andréa realises she must reunite with her old team, rekindling not just friendships but also rivalries.
Crew Girl (Norman Buckley, Amanda Tapping, Jacquie Gould, Alysse Leite-Rogers, and Simon Barry, 2026)
Hitting Netflix shelves on September 10th is the highly anticipated coming-of-age romance sports drama Crew Girl, kickstarting the streamer’s YA streak. The Netflix series follows 16-year-old competitive single sculler Teagan Tao, whose promising rowing career is derailed by an unexpected family scandal. After facing society’s disgrace due to her father’s financial fraud, Teagan moves to a small town with her mother, seeking a fresh start at Easton Prep.
But upon her arrival, Teagan realises that her elite new private school has no girls’ rowing team. Left with no option, as she refuses to remain stuck on land, her only way back onto the water is to take on the role of the coxswain for Easton Prep’s notoriously chaotic and dysfunctional boys’ varsity crew team. Crew Girl revolves around Teagan’s unparalleled efforts to reunite the unruly team and make them trust her leadership while navigating a tense love triangle.
The Perfect Lie (Dana Nechushtan and Margien Rogaar, 2026)
Although Netflix’s weekly rosters are usually packed with mystery thrillers, this week brings just one to the limelight: The Perfect Lie, adapted from Saskia Noort’s bestselling novel The Dinner Club AKA De Eetclub, releasing on September 10th. The Dutch drama series tells the story of Karen, who relocates to the affluent town of Bergen with her family, hoping to start anew, when they’re invited into the Dinner Club, an exclusive circle of friends.
The members of the Dinner Club seem to have it all, but more precisely, the above-standard life everyone dreams of – from palatial villas and successful careers to seemingly picture-perfect families and expensive taste. However, nothing is what it truly seems, and the proof is when one of their friends dies in a villa fire. Although his wife and children survive, the inciting incident becomes a turning point for Karen in The Perfect Lie, who discovers a web of deception and skeletons buried underneath.
