Everything to know about the new sports-romance series, ‘Crew Girl’
If Netflix had you unexpectedly elated with its latest romantic comedy outings with Voicemails for Isabelle and Office Romance, you’re in for a show in a few, thanks to the upcoming sports-romance drama, Crew Girl.
Arriving this autumn, the upcoming sports drama series, set in the cutthroat world of high school rowing, comes from showrunner Vivian Lin. It follows a prodigious 16-year-old single sculler whose bright future is upended by a family scandal.
While Netflix already allowed curious fans a first look at the series with some behind-the-scenes photos to transport them right into the heart of the posh world of Easton Prep, the rest of the details are not exactly far down the line.
So, if you’re interested in adding a soapy drama to your 2026 Netflix watchlist that blends the butterflies of romance and the competitive aura of sports, here’s a rundown of everything known so far about Crew Girl.
What is the plot?
Crew Girl tells the story of 16-year-old gifted single sculler Teagan Tao, whose promising future confronts an unexpected setback: a family scandal that forces her to move to the East Coast with her mother. While she dreams of starting anew at the elite Easton Prep, once there, she realises that she’s not just a fish out of the water – there’s simply no water. As she discovers that there’s no female rowing team at her high school, the only option she’s left with is to serve as a coxswain for the boys’ varsity crew.
Despite being a misfit in a world overrun by old money and competition, Teagan needs to persuade the crew to trust her and, most importantly, her leadership. Although she has a lot on her plate – a desire to reclaim her dreams, navigate the chaos of the crew, and deal with family problems – what worsens the situation is when she sparks yet another personal rivalry when caught up between the captain Josh Regis and Cam Dillinger.
Who is in the cast and crew?
Netflix has cast Miku Martineau as Teagan Tao, Jessica Pare as Ella Tao, Sam Braun as Josh Regis, Kyle Clark as Cam Dillinger, and Thomas Cadrot as Coach Matt Hayden. In addition to Vivian Lin, Jeff Norton, Lindsay Macadam, Hillary Zwick Turner, Tony Chung, and Lori Massini executive produce Crew Girl.
