‘Fauda’ is set to return this September and here’s everything you should know

As soon as the fourth season of Fauda landed on Netflix in January 2023, the series writers wasted no time getting their ducks in a row for the fifth season.

“But then,” mused co-creator Avi Issacharoff, “came October 7th. We understood that a show that deals with reality in the Middle East, in Israel, cannot disconnect itself from the biggest event that happened here in the last, I would say, 75, 80 years. You cannot ignore that.”

Having said that, for Fauda co-creator Lior Raz, who portrays Doron in the series, the upcoming series is not a showcase of what happened. It is about trying to narrate a story and see how they can place their characters in those situations and “in that story that really happened”. As a result, accuracy is non-negotiable when it comes to representation.

The forthcoming instalment opens two years after October 7th, 2023, as Doron confronts personal demons and new rivals when an old friend’s unsanctioned revenge mission in Marseille, France, finds him in the hot waters of a treacherous operation. As for the rest of the details? Here’s a rundown of everything you can expect from Fauda season five.

What happens in season five?

The fifth season of the Netflix Original thriller picks up two years after October 7th, when the fighters are still reeling from the ghosts of their trauma. But left with no time to recollect themselves, they’re forced to embark on a deadly race against time to prevent a catastrophic attack from landing on Israel as they understand the real price of fighting the war after the war.

Although the 11-episode thriller primarily takes place in 2025, two episodes of season five are set on October 7th, 2023, focusing on the characters’ experiences throughout the day.

Who is in the cast and crew?

Lior Raz reprises his role as Doron Kavillio in the upcoming season of the Netflix series. Meanwhile, Melanie Laurent stars as Anne, Hakim Djaziri as Saeed, Yaakov Zada Daniel as Eli, and Doron Ben-David as Hertzel ‘Steve’ Pinto.
