Three shows to watch on Netflix after finishing ‘Wednesday’ part two

Finishing part two of season two of Wednesday left me in that restless space where I want more but know that I am not getting it anytime soon. Jenna Ortega has been an absolute pleasure to watch in this season, but all of us are familiar with the strange old irritating habit of Netflix, aren’t we?

It is not before 2027 that season three of Wednesday will finally reach your screen. All you can do by then is watch, rewatch and keep watching until you get bored. But what if we tell you you can just move on to the shows similar to it and scratch your itch.

Personally, when that happens, I look for shows that carry the same kind of pull. Stories that are dark but playful, sometimes sad, sometimes funny, and always built around characters who do not quite fit in. These stories are intriguing in the sense of their unpredictability.

Netflix has a bunch of those, and we have handpicked three for you. While some of these films lean into supernatural twists, others are into gothic storytelling. But just like Wednesday, all these shows have chaotic families that’ll bring you the same vibe.

So if you are also wondering what to watch next, these three shows might be the fix until Nevermore opens its doors again.

Three shows to watch after finishing ‘Wednesday’ part two

Locke & Key (2020-2022)

Think of this show as a baby of the Harry Potter movies and Stranger Things. You have mysterious keys that unlock various powers and a monster on the loose. Locke & Key follows the Locke siblings as they move into their family’s ancestral home (or mansion) after their father’s death. Little do they know that this is not just any mansion. It is a magical house filled with magical keys that unlock powers beyond your imagination.

Disclaimer: With great magic comes great demons. Of course, the Locke siblings have to face a monster who is powerful enough to be undefeated for all three seasons. You have got suspense on every step, eerie visuals, and enough family drama to keep you hooked for days. Consider yourself lucky, as the show wrapped up after three seasons, and you don’t have to wait for any suspense. So if Wednesday had you obsessed with Nevermore’s mysteries, Locke & Key is basically your next rabbit hole.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (2017-2019)

When they say that Neil Patrick Harris can play anything and anyone, they mean it a hundred per cent. The dude played the straightest man on earth in How I Met Your Mother after being gay, so there is no doubting the potential and skills. And when he got the opportunity to play Count Olaf in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, the man took it and nailed it on the banner of Netflix.

The show is based on the Lemony Snicket books and is a mix of theatrical and cinematic performances. It is the story of three orphans who are set in their ways to find the mystery behind their parents’ death. Meanwhile, Olaf, who is their so-called “guardian”, is pretending to take care of them with the intention to kill so that he can get all the inheritance. Sounds creepy and fun, right? So if that’s your vibe, go for this show and before you know, you’ll be finished with all three seasons.

The Umbrella Academy (2019-2024)

Not exactly like Nevermore, but equally good is The Umbrella Academy. There is barely anyone out there who hasn’t heard of it. Sure, it did not create the megasonic noise like Wednesday, but it has a cult following of its own. It also has dysfunctional families, so you won’t miss the Addams and world-ending stakes, which are not there in Wednesday, but are fun to watch.

The Hargreeves siblings are adopted superheroes with powers they can’t fully control, and watching them reunite after their father’s death is as messy as it gets. There is time travel, shady villains, and plenty of dark humour to go around. Like Wednesday, it is about outcasts trying to survive a world that doesn’t know what to do with them. And honestly? The characters are so chaotic and lovable that you’ll get attached before you realise you have binged a whole season.
