Following ‘The Crown’, Netflix’s ‘Lupin’ faces $333,000 theft

Officials were likely on high alert after jewels, and other rare antiques were stolen from Netflix’s The Crown sets. However, in yet another shocking turn of events, the Lupin sets have been robbed of nearly $333,000 worth of equipment.

Created by George Kay and Francois Uzan, this 2021 show is ironically about a mastermind thief. Following the success of the first two seasons, the third season is currently in production.

Inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s fictional master thief Arsene Lupin, this French thriller sees great mystery and fascinating twists, disguises and deception used by the professional thief who seeks vengeance against his father’s perpetrators.

However, production for the third season in the city of Nanterre was temporarily halted after this shocking on-set robbery baffled them all. While no cast or crew members were hurt, nearly $333,000 worth of equipment was stolen after a rowdy troop of almost 20 individuals hurled fireworks onto the set and sent them into a state of disarray.

While The Crown robbers were less extravagant and quietly stole from the parked cars expensive and lavish items, including silverware, glassware, a Faberge egg and more, the Lupin robbers wanted to create a show.

The fifth and penultimate season of The Crown is slated for a November 2022 premiere. The release date for the third season of Lupin has not yet been announced.
