Five Netflix series to keep an eye out for in October 2026
October’s Netflix release calendar is a monster, friend, and if you thought you could coast through the month with a comfort watch, bad luck.
There is Below, a supernatural thriller with Josh Hartnett, while Blue Box season two brings anime romance to Netflix on October 4th, so yes, you might want to reshuffle things here and there. The documentary front is looking promising with Tyson as a four-part series.
Oh, and non-English TV is bringing some promising shows like Take Charge of My Heart, a Korean rom-com, and Hollywood Arts brings Victorious fans into that world once more. A dash of nostalgia is always a delight.
But all that aside, here are five releases that demand your full attention, so here you go: help yourself to the five of Netflix’s finest.
Five Netflix series to keep an eye out for in October
East of Eden (October 1st)
Pony up because we are starting big. East of Eden is how Netflix is commencing its October roster by adapting John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel with seven episodes and Florence Pugh as Cathy Ames, the woman who drives a wedge between brothers Adam and Charles Trask. Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist play the brothers, and the story runs across two generations in California’s Salinas Valley.
So, straight away, you are welcomed into the story of family grudges and betrayal. The adaptor Zoe Kazan is the granddaughter of Elia Kazan, who directed the 1955 film starring James Dean, and that’s a legacy to take on.
Ciarán Hinds, Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts and Martha Plimpton round out the cast, so overall, it’s going to be a big one. If the series gets the Trask family conflict right, it could be a great start to October because soon, we are leaving California behind and heading into the corridors of power.
The Diplomat (Season four – October 15th)
Now leave the warfare behind to enter the Washington headaches with The Diplomat season four on October 15th, with Kate Wyler caught in a right old mess.
The fragile US-UK relationship takes a hit, while President Grace Penn and Vice President Hal Wyler are drawn into a scheme involving Russia’s most powerful weapon. So, yes, the stakes have moved well beyond the meetings and briefings, and it’s not just the politics causing trouble.
Kate and Todd end up working together against Grace and Hal, which, as you can imagine, does absolutely nothing to help either marriage. If you have watched The Diplomat from the start, you will know things never stay simple for long. Someone is always keeping a secret or making life harder for everyone else, and after all that political mess, we are giving ourselves a break and moving on to romance.
Nobody Wants This (Season three – October 22nd)
Speaking of relationships that could use some peace and calm, Nobody Wants This season three is finally, finally releasing on October 22nd with Joanne and Noah past their ‘will they won’t they’ phase and facing a problem with fewer butterflies in their bellies and more cardboard boxes.
That’s right, they are moving in together, so Kristen Bell and Adam Brody explore what happens to love when the rose-tinted glasses come off. There are ten episodes, and they will all release the same day.
This season will embark on a new journey while Joanne’s decision to convert to Judaism carries into the new chapter, and Morgan’s podcast career begins to take on a life of its own. Andrew Rannells will join as Joanne’s conversion-class nemesis, Sebastien, and creator Erin Foster pops up as Nicole. It’s always fun when makers do that; it gives the whole thing a personal touch.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 (October 20th)
Time to take a break from romance because we have Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 crashing onto Netflix on October 20th, and before you start wondering how on earth the first series can carry on after that ending, know this: it is a standalone ten-episode story with a new crew of mercenaries, so David’s arc isn’t being dragged from the grave for the sake of another season.
We are back in Night City, the world of Cyberpunk 2077, but this time we are following a new bunch of hired guns caught up in revenge and redemption. Netflix is also changing up the animation style, so do not take this for a straight sequel. It’s the same city but different people.
Lupin (Part four – October 23rd)
Off we go to Paris, where Lupin part four has finally decided to make a comeback after a long, long wait on October 23rd. This time, you will find Assane Diop four years on from the previous chapter, with Omar Sy’s gentleman thief in prison, determined to serve his sentence before meeting family in Senegal as promised to Raoul. Sounds like the game is up, yeah? ‘Course it isn’t, this is Lupin.
A message signed by ‘Lupin’ announces museum robberies, and the thefts happen despite tight security. Naturally, every scrap of evidence points towards Assane, including footage that appears to place him at one crime scene, so he has to escape and find the copycat.
The series remains inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s Arsène Lupin stories rather than adapting one book beat for beat.
