‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2’ set for fall 2026 release on Netflix
Did you really think we were done with Night City? Not a chance. Netflix has officially locked in a Fall 2026 release window for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and if you were expecting a continuation of David Martinez’s story, pump the brakes. This is a completely new chapter with a fresh cast and conflicts.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is a standalone, 10-episode anime, meaning you can binge it without rewatching the first season. This time, you have the same universe, the same Night City, but an entirely different story. And that is probably the right call after how unforgettable the original ending was.
Netflix and Studio TRIGGER have already introduced the show’s new crew. There is Weak Kingsley, a once-feared Edgerunner who is now chasing the glory he lost.
Then you have got D, a Snake Nation netrunner whose life revolves around tracking down the person responsible for wiping out his clan.
Roman Carax is an aspiring filmmaker searching for real stories in a city that has ditched cinema for braindances, while Talia Yang leaves behind the comfort of the corporate world because, well, chrome and mess are apparently way more appealing.
Now let’s talk about who is pulling the strings behind the camera. Kai Ikarashi, known for his animation work on Little Witch Academia, takes over directing duties this time around. Studio TRIGGER is back animating the series, with Masahiko Otsuka handling series composition and Ichigo Kanno designing the characters.
All in all, the crew looks pretty tight, and the expectations this time are skyrocketing.
If you need a reminder of why the hype is real, the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners didn’t just win over anime fans; it picked up Anime of the Year at the 2023 Crunchyroll Anime Awards and even sparked a massive resurgence in Cyberpunk 2077.
So yeah, expectations are sky-high. Fall 2026 suddenly doesn’t feel close enough.
