10 most popular films on Netflix this week: June 2022

Netflix has been going through a tough phase. Besides dwindling subscription numbers and a sharp fall in stock prices, the streamer is stealthily laying off employees and stopping productions, drawing an immense backlash. However, Netflix has been adding new titles to its shelves in Jun2 2022, many of which have become exceedingly popular.

Every week, we bring you the ten most popular films on Netflix across the world at Best of Netflix.

Jeremiah Zaga’s sports drama Hustle has topped the list. The film has topped the charts for a second time this month and has been viewed for over 57 million hours. It stars Adam Sandler as a jaded basketball scout who travels to Spain and meets a player named Bo Cruz with a troubled personal life who has the potential to become the next big NBA icon.

Real-life Utah Jazz player Juancho Hernagomez plays Cruz in the film alongside Robert Duvall, Ben Foster, Queen Latifah, Heidi Garner, Kenny Smith and Jordan Hull.

As a mad scientist on Spiderhead, Chris Hemsworth makes a fascinating mark, starring in roles different from his usual films like Extraction or the Thor film franchise. Directed by Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker, Joseph Kosinski, the film is based on George Saunders’ short story. Upon its release, it has been viewed for nearly 35 million hours and stars Miles teller, Jurnee Smollett, BeBe Bettencourt and Tess Habruich among others.

The Hemsworth family seems to be reigning on Netflix charts. Produced by Chris Hemsworth and starring his wife Elsa Pataky, Matthew Reilly’s latest Australian-American film Interceptor has been on the charts for three weeks now. This week, it has been viewed for nearly 13 million hours and features a surprise uncredited cameo from Hemsworth himself.

Upon its release on June 10th, 2022, the computer-animated comedy Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness has garnered a viewership of more than 23 million. Based on Chris Grine’s Chickenhare graphic novel series, the 91-minute film features a wide variety of voice actors. Netflix viewers have seemingly taken to the juvenile yet delightful premise, which sees the half-chicken half-hare hero embark on a series of adventures despite various obstacles lying in his way.
