Watch Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans spar in ‘The Gray Man’

Starring Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling in lead roles, the Russo brothers’ highly-anticipated Netflix Original film The Gray Man recently released its trailer, which promises high-stakes action sequences and intense sparring sessions between the leads.

This $200 million espionage action thriller created quite the buzz after releasing its first-look photos earlier this month. It also stars a brilliant ensemble comprising Ana de Armas, Rege-Jean Page, Dhanush, Wagner Moura, Billy Bob Thornton, Jessica Henwick, Julia Butters, Eme Ikwuakor etc.

While Netflix is planning to expand the upcoming film into a possible trilogyThe Gray Man will see Gosling as the titular CIA veteran who is compelled to be on the run after being betrayed by the agency. He is pursued by the conniving Lloyd Hansen, played by Evans, sporting a distinguished moustache, which will lead to an epic showdown.

Adapted from Mark Greaney’s book series, the trailer promises a truckload of twists, high voltage action and violence.

The Russo brothers were admittedly drawn in by the intriguing plot narrative of the book. As “big fans of the spy genre”, they said, “we’re always looking for ways of how to twist it or supercharge it or push it into areas that feel fresh.”

They said about Greaney’s book, “There was a great idea at the centre of this book, where it’s not just about being a spy, but being the most extreme version of one, where you have to hide your own identity – and yourself.”

The directors have promised “complicated characters with competing agendas” who engage in a “fight to [the] death”.

With Gosling jumping over trains, busting windows, and poking fun at Evans’ ‘stache, the film promises gripping action and narrative.

The Gray Man will arrive in theatres on July 15th, 2022, before premiering on Netflix on July 22nd, 2022.
