Netflix has released the latest trailer for the first part of their new Fear Street trilogy, Fear Street Part One: 1994’, which is due to land on the platform this Friday (July 2nd).

The films have been launched as part of a bid from Netflix to bolster its own original horror content. The trilogy takes on inspiration from the legendary YA horror author R.L. Stine. However, as the trailer and all previous press releases have suggested, the shocks and spooks will certainly be fit for adult audiences.

The official logline for the first instalment reads: “A circle of teenage friends accidentally encounter the ancient evil responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for over 300 years. Welcome to Shadyside.”

While the synopsis for the overarching trilogy reads: “In 1994, a group of teenagers discovers that the terrifying events that have haunted their town for generations may all be connected — and that they may be the next targets.

“Based on R.L. Stine’s best-selling horror series, the trilogy follows the nightmare through Shadyside’s sinister history.”

As far as this first instalment goes, it will star Kiana Madeira, Olivia Scott Welch, Benjamin Flores Jr and Stranger Things star Maya Hawke. The project is being direct by the young up-and-coming filmmaker Leigh Janiak known for her work on Honeymoon
