Three burning questions ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ Season 2 raises, but doesn’t answer
The beloved teen sleuth, Pippa Fitz-Amobi, may have sworn to stay away from further investigations after clearing Sal Singh’s name in Andie Bell’s death in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season one. But key witness Jamie Reynolds’ mysterious disappearance just in time for the Max Hastings trial didn’t let her keep the promise for good in season two on Netflix.
While Pip went all out to reunite Jamie with his family and prove Max guilty, the trial, however, ended in a miscarriage of justice, with the culprit walking away scot-free.
With Pip increasingly suffering from PTSD and the justice hanging in the balance, there are more than one important question the follow-up season raises but doesn’t answer, leaving viewers to their imagination.
Although Netflix has yet to renew A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder for a third season, if the show does return, these three burning questions certainly demand addressing.
Three questions A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder raises with its second season
Will Max Hastings ever face the consequences of his crimes?
Throughout the second season of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Max Hastings is on trial for sexually assaulting Nat da Silva and Becca Bell. But as time passes, more victims come forward, making Pip all the more determined to put Max behind bars. One of the key witnesses in the case is Jamie Reynolds, whose disappearance forces Pip to spring back into action.
Without credible testimony, Max seizes the opportunity to silence witnesses through threats, manipulating everyone around him. So, even when the evidence arrives, he’s found not guilty. Although the verdict leaves Pip taking matters into her own hands, it makes viewers curious whether Max will manage to evade the consequences of his crimes forever.
Does Pip completely lose her faith in the justice system?
After failing to protect and save Stanley Forbes, a victim of his father’s crimes, Pip witnesses Max walking away scot-free, despite testimonies and multiple witnesses. By the season finale, she really loses her remaining faith in the justice system. Whether A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder will restore that faith is a tale for the future, but when she chooses payback, it suggests she has truly hit rock bottom.
What about Charlie Green?
Charlie Green brutally kills Stanley, AKA Jack Brunswick, in a fit of revenge driven by the death of his own sister years earlier. He escapes the scene of the crime and sets the house ablaze. While Pip does everything in her capacity to save Stanley, he unfortunately dies in her arms. Taking advantage of the chaos, Charlie flees, bringing us to the final question: Will Charlie be held accountable for his actions, or will he evade the justice system entirely?
