'The Witcher' showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich signs major Netflix deal

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is no stranger to high praise thanks to her sensational Netflix series, The Witcher, and she has now been rewarded for her fine work.

Hissrich is gearing up for the release of season two and various other productions from the Witcher-verse, including the new Netflix anime The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf scheduled for an August 23rd release and the prequel spin-off series, The Witcher: Blood Origin. Excitingly, it has now been reported that she has signed a fruitful deal with the streaming giant. 

Satisfied with their collaborative working spirit, Netflix and Hissrich have signed a multi-year deal where she will be required to write and produce various scripted content while still helming her The Witcher series. 

Hissrich took to Twitter to express her unbridled joy at the news. She said, “I can’t pretend to be cool about this, it’s a career dream come true.”

“I am so thrilled to have found my home at Netflix, and can’t wait to continue what’s been an incredibly fulfilling creative partnership,” she added. 

“While my heart belongs to The Witcher Franchise, I equally look forward to digging in on other exciting projects for their global audience in the years to come.”

Netflix’s global head for television, Bela Bajaria, praised Lauren S. Hissrich’s ingenious creativity. She spoke about how “Lauren is a formidable talent with a strong creative vision and diverse skill-set that she brings to every project she touches”. 

Bajaria confirmed that Hissrich’s work on The Witcher “has firmly established her as both a preeminent creator and showrunner, and we’re excited to continue working with her on future projects.” 

The Witcher season two is slated for release this December. However, if you are a fan of the series universe, keep your eyes peeled for more thrilling projects which are undoubtedly on the horizon from Hissrich.
