Sometimes when we dive into the most popular charts for Netflix, we can be a little bit surprised by what we find. Perhaps it is a brand new show that wasn’t on our radar or a smash hit that we are finally convinced to try. However, if you’ve read our recent weeks’ editions of these roundups, then almost every entry will be known to you.
So, with that in mind, let’s start with the brand-new entries, all of which are based in the fantasy teen drama arena. One of the week’s biggest success stories is Shadow and Bone with both the first and second series in our top ten this week, with the former gaining 24million hours of viewing and the latter doubling that with 50million hours of viewing.
The official show synopsis reads: “Dark forces conspire against orphan mapmaker Alina Starkov when she unleashes an extraordinary power that could change the fate of her war-torn world.” It’s a piece of teen drama that is perfect viewing for Netflix’s audiences.
However, much of the rest of the list is full of old favourites. Wednesday is enjoying its 16th week in the chart, Sex/Life season one and two are also experiencing a continued amount of viewing hours.
Of course, the week’s most popular show is the Penn Badgely-starring series You season four. Enjoying its fifth week on top of the chart, it has gathered another 65million hours of viewing. The series recently came to a dramatic end but audiences are still finding the maniacal magic of Joe Goldberg.
