Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers for Sex/Life, which recently made its much-anticipated second-season return to Netflix. If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve already watched all six episodes and you’re looking to find out what you can expect from season three. That raises an important question: is there even going to be a season three?
As it stands, Netflix hasn’t officially renewed Sex/Life for a third season. Of course, that doesn’t mean it won’t at some point down the line. While the second did end with Brad and Billie finally getting together, some fans (and even some cast members) think the series isn’t quite over.
In an interview with TODAY.com, Sarah Shahi, who plays Billie, said that season doesn’t necessarily mark the end of the story. “If the viewership is high enough,” she said, “then absolutely we’ll be able to see Billie and Brad and more stories and more conflict.”
Netflix didn’t actually renew Sex/Life for a second season until three months after season one was released. It might be that we just have to sit tight for a while. With no official renewal, it’s hard to predict what will happen in season three. That being said, we can be fairly confident that Sarah Shahi will be back as Billie and that Adam Demos will return as Brad. As for Mike Vogel, Margaret Odette, and Cleo Anthony – we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed.
Judging from the end of season two, we can assume that the third season will focus on Billie and Brad’s new life as a married couple. According to Shahi, the third instalment will probably focus on Billie’s perennial struggle to juggle her responsibilities while allowing time for herself.
“Can she really have it all with Brad?” she told TODAY. “Wild sexual escapades while she’s up breastfeeding their new baby throughout the night? Is Brad really going to be the family man that he thinks he is with her children?”
So, it looks like season three is a real possibility. Unfortunately, we’re probably going to have to wait a while to see it. The first season came out in 2021 and season two didn’t arrive until almost two years later. We’re sure it’ll be worth the wait
