September has barely got its shoes on, and Netflix is already making a hell of a noise! Just look at the releases we have in the month so far, including Turning Point: Generation 9/11, which looked back at the attacks 25 years later, and then The Gentlemen came swaggering back the very next day, with Theo James reminding people that Eddie Horniman is still in business.

Then September 4th came, and we finally got Earle Meets World, handing Alix Earle her own reality series. Say what you like, but Netflix looks like it’s not slowing down with its releases this month.

And that is before you even look beyond the release calendar, because it’s not just about what’s coming in September but also about the new announcements the OTT has made recently, which have people swept off their feet.

So, which updates are actually worth your time? It turns out there were plenty to pick from, but these five stood out.

GTA VI’s extended look becomes Netflix’s biggest title of the week

Well… this got out of hand faster than we thought! Netflix’s Top 10 on September 1st showed Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look topping the chart with 31.1 million views, reaching the number one on the global movies list. Yeah, yeah, it’s not a movie technically; we get it, but the 27-minute presentation, captured from PlayStation 5 gameplay, gave fans their biggest look yet at Rockstar’s long-awaited sequel.

A video-game showcase beating every movie on Netflix? Yeah, that is one hell of a flex. Netflix called it a first-of-its-kind premiere for the service, while Rockstar gave fans more of Jason and Lucia’s story in Leonida. And as the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder, though at this point, the hype is doing just fine on its own. GTA VI arrives November 19th on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Good luck keeping a lid on that until then.

Netflix announces The One About Matthew Perry

Yes, Matthew Perry’s story is returning to the screen, but not through reruns of FRIENDS. Netflix will premiere The One About Matthew Perry on October 27th, with three episodes looking at the man behind Chandler Bing and the addiction he spoke about with brutal honesty. Emmy-winning Quiet on Set director Mary Robertson is behind the project, while Perry’s sister Mia Perry Bowick and lifelong friends help tell the story from much closer to home.

Netflix also has access to unreleased photos and videos from the Perry family archive, so this time, you will be looking at the unseen aspects of the beloved actor’s life and not just the interview footage. Perry made millions of people laugh for years, but his own life was a tragedy.

Netflix develops a live-action Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft series

Next is Netflix’s newest development, Ravenloft, a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series focusing on Strahd von Zarovich, the vampire Darklord who has spent decades making players regret their bad decisions. John August will write and executive produce, with Alfonso Cuarón joining as an executive producer. Netflix is aiming for prestige fantasy with a gothic-horror edge, tracing Strahd’s journey from tragic antihero to one of D&D’s most notorious villains.

No release date has been announced yet, so guess you’ve got to wait. However, life’s not always sunshine and roses in the Netflix universe, so here’s some bad news: Netflix’s planned Forgotten Realms series has been scrapped. As the old saying goes, when one door closes, another opens, although in Ravenloft, opening doors rarely ends well.

Netflix renews Tires for Season 4

Yes, people, it looks like Tires will be rolling for yet another season, as Netflix has renewed Shane Gillis and Steve Gerben’s workplace comedy for a fourth season, after season three shone bright on the global series chart with 2.8 million views during the second week of August. Those numbers may not make your jaw hit the floor, but the show is clearly going in the right direction, and Netflix has decided to keep its foot on the gas!

The comedy follows Will, played by Gerben, as he tries to keep his family’s struggling auto shop alive while cousin Shane, played by Gillis, makes the job far more difficult than it needs to be. We don’t have a season four release date yet, so fans will have to cool their engines for now.

Netflix makes a much bigger move into podcasts

Look at that, Netflix has also caught the podcast bug, and bloody hell, it has gone all in. The platform has renewed its entire original podcast slate, including Murder with My Husband, The Pete Davidson Show, Shut Up Evan, The Puzzle Room with David Kwong and Allegedly with Ellison Barber. But that’s not it. It is already reaching for more, with new originals from Katt Williams and Harlan Coben arriving later this year.

Then came the bigger names, and Netflix really put its cards on the table! Katt Williams and Harlan Coben have both signed deals for new podcasts due later in 2026. Coben’s first original podcast will dig into real-life “plot twists” that changed people’s lives, featuring famous guests alongside everyday people with extraordinary stories. The Pivot Podcast releases on September 8th, followed by Outlore with Eleanor Neale on September 27th.
