Netflix has been absolutely piling stuff onto the autumn schedule, and at this point, it’s natural to wonder how much it has got left when we’re not too far from the end of the year. To be fair, it’s pretty busy already, but with these new announcements, we want you to take another look at whatever it is you’ve marked in your watchlists.

To begin with, there were already a few big autumn releases you wouldn’t want to miss starting in September, with Monster back into the conversation, while The Gentlemen was another massive addition.

October has Lupin back on the board, which should be enough to get fans interested, but when has Netflix stopped from stuffing viewers’ watchlists with big names… So it also asked Ben Affleck to pitch in with Animals.

And just when you think that is all, Netflix goes on making more announcements, and all we can do is take a look and do some reshuffling.

Matthew Perry documentary is coming to Netflix this October

You know how most people hear Matthew Perry and instantly think Chandler Bing? Well, Netflix is in the mood to show you that there was a lot more to him than that. The One About Matthew Perry is coming to Netflix on October 27th, and this three-part documentary brings in his sister Mia Perry Bowick, along with some close friends. We’ll also get to see some unseen family photos and videos, so we get to see the side of him that fame never showed us.

Yes, it goes back to his battle with addiction, because that was a huge part of his life, but that is not the whole point here. His sister wants people to see him as a full person, and honestly, that already makes this feel more special than your usual Friends throwback. So if Chandler was how you knew him, this might be your chance to interact with the real man behind that face.

The Decoy Plane brings Netflix’s quick-turn doc format back

This one is pure madness because Netflix didn’t even give the story a chance to cool off before deciding that it deserved a documentary. Instadocs: The Decoy Plane releases on September 4th and goes back to July, when Donald Trump left a NATO summit in Turkey, boarded Air Force One, slipped off, rode in a catering truck and boarded an aircraft while the press flew on without him. Does it sound hilarious or tragic? We’ll let you decide.

Netflix’s NFL deal expands from Week One through Super Bowl

Ho, ho, ho, sports lovers of Netflix, as it has brought you an early Christmas present. You see, the platform’s NFL deal has gone well past the “little experiment” stage now. The 2026 run kicks off September 10th with the San Francisco 49ers taking on the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, marking the first regular-season NFL game in Australia. That is some way to open the season, isn’t it?

And Netflix is not just turning up at Christmas anymore. The five-game slate includes the NFL’s first Thanksgiving Eve game, two Christmas Day clashes and a Week 18 fixture, with NFL Honors coming during Super Bowl week. Also, the deal runs through the 2029-30 season. So no, this is not festive dabbling anymore. With the NFL chasing fans beyond the US and Netflix opening in Melbourne, the message is pretty clear: both sides want a much bigger crowd.

Netflix expands podcast catalogue with four new shows

Remember when Netflix was where you went to watch something? Well, it’s high time to accept that the definition keeps getting stretched. Starting with Last Trace with Kaelyn Moore coming to Netflix on September 28th, then Couldn’t Agree Less with Allison & Isaac follows on October 22nd, with untitled shows from Katt Williams and Harlan Coben in the works.

Can you imagine Coben behind a microphone? Come on, after all those thriller adaptations, you can see why Netflix fancies that one. But do not mistake the newcomers for pushing the old guard out. Murder with My Husband, The Pete Davidson Show, Shut Up Evan, The Puzzle Room with David Kwong and Allegedly with Ellison Barber are coming back with more episodes.

Japanese drama Plastic Beauty lands on Netflix September 17th

Japan is up next, and we have a new medical drama, Plastic Beauty, finally releasing globally. The suspense drama lands September 17th, with Mayu Matsuoka playing Fumi Numata, a gifted surgeon forced out of her hospital after an emergency operation, while Alice in Borderland’s Riisa Naka joins him as celebrity cosmetic surgeon Rin Tohyama. And good grief, these two are not on the same page.

The trailer opens with a patient in distress after surgery, before both doctors are brought into Japan’s booming cosmetic-surgery world. Fumi questions why healthy people need an operating table; on the other hand, Rin treats beauty as something medicine can fix. Hmm, so there’s also going to be a clash? And don’t just think that Netflix is throwing some made-up medical bullshit on you, as the makers have spent months researching the industry, which adds some real weight to the show. So yes, this is doing a lot more than handing out makeovers.
