The five best series to stream on Netflix this weekend:

The Trap (Isabel Kleefeld, 2026)

If you prefer your Netflix series to play mind games, The Trap delivers. The German psychological thriller centres on highly popular, reclusive author Lisa Konrad, who has been shut in inside her home for a decade after witnessing the terrifying murder of her sister Anna. While she plans to stay isolated until the time comes, fortunately or unfortunately, she has a change of heart pretty soon.

When she believes she has spotted her sister’s killer on a television broadcast, she comes out of hiding to carry out a high-stakes, risky scheme to lure the perpetrator to her home under the pretence of an interview. What she actually plans, though, is to draw him out and uncover the long-buried truth, no matter what it takes. From the creator of Dear Child, The Trap is a twisted psychological thriller that demands cognitive commitment.

Hollywood Arts (Jonathan Judge, 2026)

Hell broke loose when Netflix originally announced a spin-off of the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious. And now that Hollywood Arts is officially here, the buzz is off the roof. The Netflix comedy spin-off marks the return of Trina Vega, an aspiring actor from the original show who has yet to get her first break. So, she returns to her high school alma mater, Hollywood Arts High School, to fill in for the substitute acting teacher.

Although she initially takes the job, hoping to cash in on her selfish goals by using her students’ influential, resourceful parents to launch her own acting career, Trina clashes with a new, eccentric but ambitious group of teenage artists, including Emmy, Pepper, Qwest, Jen Z, and Oscar, before becoming their guiding light. Hollywood Arts follows Trina, who arrives to spotlight herself, only to eventually find a genuine sense of purpose in guiding students to achieve their true potential.

The Diplomat (Alex Graves, Simon Cellan Jones, and Liza Johnson, 2023-Present)

Although Netflix has several high-profile releases lined up for the week, the fourth season of The Diplomat is where everyone’s attention is. The latest instalment of the Netflix Original political thriller centres on the unravelling of a high-stakes conspiracy and the fallout between two marriages. In the new season, President Grace Penn and Vice President Hal Wyler secretly scheme to steal Russia’s most lethal nuclear warhead off the coast of England.

But before they can carry out the plan, US Ambassador Kate Wyler gets a hunch about the covert alliance, resulting in a deep feeling of betrayal from Hal, especially as they were trying to reconcile their marriage. The fourth season of The Diplomat follows Kate as she secretly joins forces with First Gentleman Todd Penn to try and stop the other alliance from deliberately triggering an armed conflict between the US and the UK.

Money Trap: The Karun Treasure (Şenol Sönmez, 2026)

Up next on our weekend watchlist is a Turkish crime-comedy, Money Trap: The Karun Treasure, continuing the beloved Organise İşler franchise. The Netflix series centres on legendary scam artist Asım Noyan, who finds a treasure map pointing to the iconic real-world Treasure of Karun and decides to pull off one last heist before retiring from his life of crime for good.

To carry out the mission, Asım reunites with his trusted gang of scammers from Istanbul, but he doesn’t understand what the stakes are on the table. As he and his loyal gang feel trapped in a high-stakes, dangerous cat-and-mouse chase through Istanbul’s crowded streets and hidden underground labyrinths, they find themselves on the tail of ruthless local rivals and international treasure hunters, who all want the same thing.

Extraordinary Attorney Minami (Miyake Yoshishige, Yuka Yasukawa, Koji Hora, and Hiroyuki Nakata, 2026)

Lastly, to wrap up the weekend watchlist, we recommend the Japanese remake of the hit South Korean series, Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Extraordinary Attorney Minami follows prodigious young lawyer Minamida Minami as she is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Although she graduates at the top of her law class at the University of Tokyo and achieves the highest score on the bar examination, widespread prejudice against autism makes it hard for her to find any job.

While she’s eventually hired by one of the top law firms, Hirokawa & Howard Law Firm, the difficulty doesn’t fade as she continuously struggles with reading emotions, communicating directly, and adapting to unexpected situations. Extraordinary Attorney Minami follows her journey to overcome doubts from colleagues and clients, driven by her deep love for law and an extraordinary memory.
