The five best series to watch on Netflix this weekend
With the streaming powerhouse moving on a fast lane this April, subscribers are visibly overwhelmed with everything new on Netflix.
But now that the weekend is closer than ever, they’re probably still lost, wondering if Netflix has enough projects up its sleeve to make the off-hours worth it, right?
Well, the concerns are understandable, considering the audience is pretty tired of repeated recommendations. However, with all the content that’s currently flooding Netflix, we barely have any room for rewatches, in all honesty.
So, even if you thought this would be just another weekend of rerouting back to comfort specials, here are the five best series to watch on Netflix to change your mind.
The five best series to stream on Netflix this weekend
Unchosen (Jim Loach and Phillipa Langdale, 2026)
To kick-start the weekend binge, Netflix has a gripping cult-based psychological thriller, Unchosen, that sees the return of Sex Education star Asa Butterfield, alongside Molly Windsor and Fra Fee. The six-episode Netflix series takes viewers behind the closed doors of a fictional conservative religious sect based in the UK, telling the story of Rosie, a member of a cloistered church community who lives with her husband Adam and their daughter Grace.
Having been a devoted wife and mother, Rosie has never learned to question relationships, duties, or even the community where she thinks she belongs. But when an escaped convict, Sam, enters the scene, posing initially as a saviour, Rosie is forced to question where the true danger actually lies. While Unchosen hit Netflix shelves earlier this week, if you haven’t been able to make time, add it to the weekend queue.
Sold Out on You (Ahn Jong-yeon and Lee Soo-min, 2026)
Thrillers don’t really undergo an off-season on Netflix, but can we say the same about romantic comedies? Perhaps not. So, if you’re seeking a change of air this weekend, don’t forget to tune into the small-town K-series, Sold Out on You. The 12-episode series follows Dam Ye-jin, a budding star at HIT Homeshopping with 1 trillion won in sales under her belt.
With a major promotion in line that would allow her to headline a prime weekend broadcast spot, she must convince the owner of a raw cosmetic material company to renew their contract with HIT. As she travels to Deokpung Village in Korea, where a key ingredient is grown, she runs into Matthew Lee, a secretive farmer with an eye for perfection. Although the tension is palpable between the two initially, Sold Out on You explores how a bond of friction turns into an unexpected romance.
Running Point (Elaine Ko, Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen, 2025-Present)
Kate Hudson’s hit sports comedy, Running Point, is back on Netflix with the highly anticipated second season. If you failed to make room for it during the weekdays, you know just what to do now. The follow-up season sees Isla Gordon doubling down on her role as the president of the Los Angeles Waves, while practically navigating a civil war and a scheming brother, Cam.
With Cam secretly working to reclaim control and disrupt Isla’s hold on the team, Running Point season two puts her under extreme public scrutiny and higher stakes to prove her leadership. As if that’s not enough, she also has to deal with a shrinking budget for the team at the peak of her personal chaos, but that said, losing is never really an option for Isla.
Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 (Eric Robles, 2026)
Nearly four months after bidding farewell to the live-action version of Hawkins, Netflix is finally ready to launch viewers into the animated universe with Stranger Things: Tales from ’85. Set in 1985, amidst the freezing Hawkins winter, the new animated series follows our familiar Hawkins heroes along with some new faces as they embark on an epic journey.
With new monsters and threats on the horizon, the Hawkins crew must survive and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorising the town. While the idea of Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 came to the Duffer Brothers when they were looking for other ideas within the world of Hawkins, it marks the first time since the conclusion of Stranger Things that viewers can finally return to the land of darkness. So, get onboard!
Santita (Rodrigo García, 2026)
Finally, to end the weekend marathon, Netflix has a new Mexican dramedy, Santita, making waves. The Netflix series tells the story of Maria Jose Santita Cano, a wheelchair-bound medical student, who, after surviving a car crash, leaves her fiancé at the altar. Although she fulfils her dream of becoming a doctor, despite her disability, she considers herself a black sheep both in her personal and professional life.
But twenty years later, when her former fiancé’s pregnant wife shows up for an abortion, her paths cross with Alejandro as well, who arrives at the hospital to comfort his wife, whom he believes had a miscarriage. While Santita’s life hasn’t exactly been a smooth course, this plot twist severely complicates her current situation. However, if you’re interested in finding out about the nitpicks, tune into Santita this weekend!
