'Stranger Things' season 4 is "really dark," says Sadie Sink

Having always reflected a dark, cosmic side, Netflix’s iconic series Stranger Things is set to ramp things up in its upcoming fourth series according to star Sadie Sink.

Currently completing filming following a number of Coronavirus-related delays, Sink portrays Max Mayfield in the influential Netflix show, a newcomer to the group of friends and the girlfriend of key member Lucas Sinclair. Though, speaking in an interview leading up to the upcoming fourth series, Sink has teased that the new episodes will make for a “really, really dark season”.

“Each season the production scale gets bigger and bigger and the stakes are really, really high this year, as they are always,” Sink explained about the fourth series of the hit show which may end up being Stranger Things’ penultimate chapter. Producer Shawn Levy has previously backed this up, stating, “The truth is we’re definitely going four seasons and there’s very much the possibility of a fifth. Beyond that, it becomes I think very unlikely”.

“There’s something about this season, it’s really intense,” Sink continues, echoing the comments of fellow co-star Finn Wolfhard, who also said earlier this year that season four would be “the darkest season that there’ll ever be”. “Every year it gets amped-up; every year it gets funnier, darker and sadder – and everything,” the young actor continued, confirming that the upcoming season of fan-favourite Stranger Things, may take the series to new, uncharted territory.

David Harbour’s Jim Hopper, thought to have been killed in the previous season, has also expressed his excitement for the upcoming season of the show, commenting, “[You will] see a lot of your favourite characters doing the thing that you love them for … but you’ll also see them twist it and turn it into other colours and other flavours”.

Fans will just have to wait and see.
