Finn Wolfhard says ‘Stranger Things 4’ will be “darkest season ever"

Season three left fans dangling from an emotional cliff hanger and, by the sounds of it, season four will be no less of an emotionally somersaulting thrill ride.

Speaking to Canadian radio station CBC Listen, 18-year-old actor Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, confirmed the forthcoming direction for the hit show: “Every season it gets darker. I will say [with] season three I was like, ‘This is the darkest season that there’ll ever be’ – exploding rats and everything,” he announced. “But really, season four so far… it’s the darkest season that’s ever been [made].”

Adding: “Every year it gets amped-up; every year it gets funnier, darker and sadder – and everything. So I’m really excited for people to see it.”

And he didn’t stop at simply colouring a few details regarding the show’s plot, he also offered an update on filming, “We’re still filming it. ‘Cause of COVID, we had to put it on hold, but now they’re back filming right now.”

He later explained that he is due to join them on set imminently, adding, “I’m so excited for people to see it. It’s been a long go at it.”

Whilst filming is still clearly very much underway and thus it is unlikely to make a return to Netflix any time soon, the updates are promising and hopefully, the spooky-thrills will return so enough so eager fans can see what fate awaits the shows beloved Jim Hopper.
