‘Stranger Things’ release new set photos teasing “something massive”

The eighties-soaked happenings of Stranger Things are just around the corner, and with that, the show has begun to tease plot details to ramp up the already fevered excitement.

We have already had teaser trailers and cast members spilling the beans in interviews, but now fans have been titillated by a very intriguing set of photographs posted on the show’s official Twitter account.

The four photos showed a gathering at Hawkins cemetery with the caption: “Something ‘massive’ is happening at Hawkins cemetery.”

While the presence of a cemetery had many fans unnerved, the fact that one of the photos seemed to show Jonathan Byers and Nancy Wheeler pouring over a piece of paper as though it contains something vital, has many wondering whether it is not just another twist in the tale.

However, earlier this year, the show’s star Finn Wolfhard did admit that the forthcoming series will be the darkest yet. He told CBS Listen, “Every season it gets darker. I will say [with] season three I was like, ‘This is the darkest season that there’ll ever be’ – exploding rats and everything,” he explained. “But really, season four so far… it’s the darkest season that’s ever been [made].”

As of yet, we are still no closer to a certified release date, but with the amount of promotion going on around it, it would seem that Wolfhard’s hint that it would surface early next year could be a red herring.

Watch this space and we’ll be sure to keep you updated. For now, you can check out the teaser trailer below.
