'Sonic Prime': Everything we know about the Netflix series

Netflix delighted Sonic the Hedgehog fans by announcing a partnership with Sega of America and WildBrain last year on the 30th anniversary of the iconic video game. Recently, the streamer released a trailer snippet to give a look at the upcoming series, Sonic Prime

In a new teaser that features snippets from various upcoming animation films and series. From The Cuphead Show to Green Eggs and Ham and SharkdogDaniel Spellbound etc., the video also features a little clip from Sonic Prime after 01:49. 

Netflix’s John Derderian spoke up about how iconic characters would be coming to the streamer soon. He said, “Whether it is the thrill of dinosaurs chasing you in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, laughter with familiar friends from Boss Baby, or the breath-taking adventures of upcoming series Sonic Prime, Daniel Spellbound and My Dad the Bounty Hunter, Netflix is the home of your favourite characters.”

When will Sonic Prime release on Netflix?

Although Netflix has not yet declared a confirmed release date for Sonic Prime, Netflix has assured fans that the series is “coming soon.” It should arrive sometime in 2022, most likely during the Holiday season.

What is the plot of Sonic Prime?

The new series  promises “a high octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands.” The teaser shows the spiked blue character collecting his golden rings and saying, “I know what you’re thinking – I’m goooood. And powerful, apparently. Jealous?!”

How many episodes will Sonic Prime have?

Sonic Prime will have 24 episodes and each episode will run for approximately 30 minutes.

Who are the cast members of Sonic Prime?

Sonic Prime has a pretty varied ensemble of voice actors. Deven Christian Mack has previously voiced a number of characters, namely King Vangelis in LEGO: Ninjago, Wynton Styles in Bakugan: Battle Planet and Chuck in Angry Birds: Summer Madness. He will be voicing the main role of the blue hedgehog.

Brian Drummond has previously voiced Knuckles in Sonic Underground and is coming back to presumably reprise the role. The rest of the voice cast includes Vincent Tong, Ian Hanlin, Shannon Chan-Kent, Ashleigh Bell, Adam Nurada and Kazumi Evans among others.
