SAG Awards 2024: The complete list of winners

As the season of red carpets, glitz, and glamour comes to its climax, it’s fair to say that by now, many are feeling a bit fatigued with the relentless procession of award shows. Netflix streamed the SAG Awards ceremony live this Sunday, as audiences around the world tuned in to stream it all on the OTT platform for the first time ever.

With the BAFTAs behind us and only the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards left before the grand finale that is the Oscars, the marathon of accolades is nearly at its end. In the realm of ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture’, the odds were always in favour of Oppenheimer, even though Barbie winning would have aligned more with populist sentiments. Killers of the Flower Moon winning would have been historic, but we still have the Academy Awards to look forward to.

When it came to the ‘Best Actor’ category, the competition was fierce. But Cillian Murphy, for his role in Oppenheimer, had gained an edge over contenders like Paul Giamatti due to his recent victories at the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes. In the ‘Best Actress’ category, Lily Gladstone turned out to be the underdog who won, despite Emma Stone being predicted to take the trophy by many who were going by her previous wins.

Robert Downey Jr won for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his role in Oppenheimer. In the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ category, there was no one better than Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who could win for her work in The Holdovers and beyond. Randolph deserves this winning streak, which we predict will end with her lifting the Oscars for Best Supporting Actress.

Of course, the SAG Awards also celebrated the year on television. While Succession won ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series’, the not exactly haha-funny, The Bear won again in the ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series’ category.

Steven Yeun and Ali Wong continued their winning streak as they won the ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male/Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series’ category. In the drama series category, Pedro Pascal won for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series’ for Last of Us and Elizabeth Debicki won for her role as Princess Diana in The Crown.

The ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male/Female Actor in a Comedy Series’ awards went to Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edibiri for The Bear. In addition to the acting awards, The Last of Us and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One won for the best stunt ensembles.
