Golden Globes 2024: The full list of Netflix winners

The 81st Annual Golden Globes kicked off the awards season with glitz and glamour. Netflix emerged as a big winner, securing five wins.

BEEF won big. There was a nod to The Crown as well. In a surprise, Ricky Gervais also went home with an award. The wins proved one thing: Netflix does shows better than movies.

One of the standout moments of the evening came when BEEF was crowned the ‘Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.’

Director and writer Lee Sung Jin took the opportunity to acknowledge the real-life inspiration behind the show. In a cheeky yet appreciative tone, Jin said while accepting the award, “You know, our show is actually based on a real road rage incident that actually happened to me, so I’d be remiss not to thank that driver. Sir, I hope you honk and yell and inspire others for years to come.”

The ceremony also marked a historic win for Ali Wong, who became the first female actor of Asian descent to claim the ‘Best Actress award in the limited series/TV movie’ category for her outstanding performance in BEEF. Alongside her, Steven Yeun was honoured with the Best Actor award.

Netflix’s triumph extended to The Crown, with Elizabeth Debicki receiving recognition for her memorable portrayal of Princess Diana. And Ricky Gervais secured an award for his stand-up comedy special, Ricky Gervais: Armageddon.
