Netflix drops a gory trailer for ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’

Ahead of its February 18th, 2022 premiere, Netflix has dropped the gory and gruesome trailer for the upcoming film Texas Chainsaw Massacre. A direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s eponymous 1974 original, the film will see the return of the iconic psychotic maniac, Leatherface, with his notorious buzzing chainsaw as he lives up to his blood-soaked legacy.

After Leatherface obliterates the entire Hardesty family in the 1974 film, Sally is the sole survivor waiting to seek revenge. Five decades later, a group of friends arrive at the ghost town of Harlow in Texas with a prospective business idea.

Their arrival disrupts Leatherface and awakens him from his slumber. The maniacal masked killer wields his chainsaw yet again, wreaking havoc on the townsfolk before coming head to head with Sally, who is determined to get rid of him once and for all.

The ninth film in the coveted Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise and the only one to follow up to the original, the upcoming Netflix film stars Mark Burnham as the villain. Burnham will be taking after Gunnar Hansen’s brilliant performance as the bloodthirsty assassin.

The rest of the cast includes Olwen Fuoere, Sarah Yarkin, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson and Elsie Fisher. The original narrator for the 1974 film, John Larroquette, is also set to make a return as the narrator yet again to ring in the fearful nostalgia.

The trailer shows Leatherface looking more deranged than ever in a new mask made of human skin as he runs his chainsaw through a crowd of people in a bus. Plenty of terrifying sequences within the trailer sets the premise for a dangerous bloodbath.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre will begin streaming on Netflix on February 18th, 2022.
