Netflix already renew ‘You’ for Season 4

You series three has only just graced us with its presence on Netflix, yet already the streaming service has announced a fourth season of the show is already in development.

Based on the books You and Hidden Bodies by writer Caroline Kepnes, it was developed for the screen for Netflix by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble. As Gamble stated in a press release about the upcoming fourth season, “Reading Caroline’s novel, Greg and I were instantly obsessed with Joe Goldberg and his twisted world view”.

Continuing, Gamble added, “It’s been thrilling to watch Penn bring Joe to creepy yet compelling life. We’re deeply grateful that Netflix has shown You such monumental support, and that people around the world have enjoyed watching Joe really get it all very wrong over the past 3 seasons. The whole You team is excited to explore new, dark facets of love in Season 4”.

The third season of the hit Netflix show will see Penn Badgley, Victoria Pedretti, and Saffron Burrows each return as the lead cast of characters, with Travis Van Winkle, Dylan Arnold and Shalita Grant also joining in minor roles. Following the drama of the previous seasons, the most recent series sees Joe (Badgley) and Love (Pedretti) newly married and raising a baby. Moving to North California for a life surrounded by new-age millennials, Joe fears for his new role as a husband and father, particularly with his wife’s sister impulses to worry about.

Speaking to In Style about his role as Joe in the series, Penn Badgley stated, “He’s clearly, to me, not a good husband. He’s not a good father, but the ways that he’s trying, I think are universal. His fear is probably pretty universal, [but] how he goes about responding to all that is so terrible, obviously”.
