Netflix releases teaser clip for “twisted” second season of ‘Wednesday’
Netflix have shared a teaser trailer for the hotly anticipated second season of its hit show, Wednesday.
In its debut week on Netflix in November 2022, the first season of Wednesday became the most-watched English-language TV series on the streamer, with 341.2million hours viewed. This milestone achievement even surpassed the previous record set by Stranger Things season four.
Wednesday season two is currently being filmed in Dublin, Ireland, and is set to arrive on the streaming platform in 2025. The new teaser clip is short but features some of the main cast members, including Wednesday herself, Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, who plays her best friend Enid Sinclair and Luiz Guzmán, Gomez Adams.
Fans will also be happy to see clips of director Tim Burton in action and Morticia Adams – Catherine Zeta-Jones, who says in a voiceover: “This season is going to be bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine.”
The clip ends with Wednesday/Ortega saying in her grave tone: “If we show you any more your eyes would bleed…and I’m not that generous.”
In other recent Wednesday news, while filming, the second season of the hit Netflix show has already started breaking records. Due to a location change that saw the series move from Romania to Ireland, the show became officially the largest production to ever film in Ireland in July.
While no official reason was provided for the shift, it was supposed that the location changed because of logistical factors.
As a means of commemorating the record being broken, Ireland’s prime minister, Taoiseach Simon Harris, paid a visit to the set, where he met the show’s creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. He also rubbed shoulders with the legendary director of the series, Burton.
Elsewhere, Emma Myers recently spoke out about the behaviour some obsessive fans of Wednesday. According to the 22-year-old, fans of the show have tried to ”ship’ the relationship between Jenna Ortega’s titular character and her own, Enid Sinclair. Despite there being no evidence for it in the plot, some fans are still trying to dream up a more romantic side to the characters’ friendship.
“I’ve grown up as a big fan of things, so I know how the ‘shipping goes online, so I understand,” she told the NME in a recent conversation. “’Ship who you want as long as you’re not dragging real-life people into it.”
Continuing, the actor conceded that she made similar but joking interpretations while filming with Ortega. “If you want to ‘ship those characters, go for it,” she added. “We made a couple of jokes about it here and there when filming, but we didn’t think that side of the fandom would be so big and intense. But it’s all in good fun.”
