Jennifer Lopez celebrates 'The Mother' becoming one of Netflix's most streamed movies of all time

Jennifer Lopez’s latest project, the action thriller The Mother, has swiftly risen up Netflix‘s ranks, becoming one of its most viewed movies of all time.

Since its release on May 12th, it has already secured a place in Netflix’s top ten most streamed movies list. So far, it has amassed over 230million watched hours. It also broke an impressive record upon its debut, becoming 2023’s most-viewed film on its opening weekend, with 84million hours watched. 

The movie, directed by Niki Caro, follows Lopez as an unnamed assassin, simply known as Mother, who emerges from hiding to protect her daughter, whom she gave away following birth to allow her to live a normal life. 

However, despite being separated from her daughter, she remains emotionally attached; thus, this love spurs her to do whatever it takes to protect her from harm. The movie also stars Omari Hardwick, Joseph Fiennes, Paul Raci, Gael García Bernal and Edie Falco. 

Taking to Instagram, Lopez thanked her fans, writing, “Thank you!!! to everyone who has been watching #TheMother and helped make it a top 10 movie of all time on @Netflix and hitting #1 worldwide 4 weeks in a row! Thank you so much for watching.”

In an accompanying video, Lopez exclaimed, “For the fourth week in a row, [TheMother is number one. I just wanted to say thank you so much for watching and supporting, and I hope that you guys loved it and really enjoyed it.”
