The 10 most popular films on Netflix this week: June 2023

This week’s Netflix most popular list continues to cater to an audience with a wide range of genre preferences.

Oscars’ favourite scandal child, the “small film with a giant heart”, To Leslie has entered the list this week. After a seemingly sketchy campaign, shocking many onlookers, the modest Michael Morris film landed Andrea Riseborough a Best Actress nomination at this year’s Academy Awards. However, be it for the controversy or because it is a good film, To Leslie, a story about cycles of poverty, has made it to the top ten list with 5.37million watch hours.

Taking the top spot is The Mother, a film that has maintained its popularity for four consecutive weeks. With 16.480m hours viewed, this Jennifer Lopez drama seems to have struck a chord with audiences.

In second place is The Boss Baby, an animated comedy that has held strong in the top 10 for six weeks. It has garnered 10.58m hours of viewership. Ranking third is Missing, a suspenseful thriller that has captivated viewers for three weeks.

Also making its mark in the Netflix most popular list is 2 Hearts, a romantic drama that has garnered 7.72m hours viewed in two weeks. In the fifth spot, there is Mark Wahlberg’s Shooter. It is an action-packed film that has accumulated 7.48m hours in two weeks.

The Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Anniston, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter comedy We’re the Millers has taken the sixth spot this week. This caper about a fake family smuggling drugs on a wild road trip is no Ted Lasso and FRIENDS. But amidst a few cringy scenes, there are a lot of laughs.

The raunchy comedy starring Rober De Niro, Zac Efron, and Aubrey Plaza, Dirty Grandpa follows a soon-to-be-married man on a crazy adventure with his perverted grandfather. It might be what your weary soul needed to watch this week. Or the romantic drama The Choice may be more up your alley.

But there is F9: The Fast Saga for all the high-octane action lovers. The ninth main instalment, and the tenth instalment overall in the Fast & Furious franchise (Don’t ask! We are just as confused as them), F9 features the usual car chases and an adrenaline-fueled story about family and loyalty.

Each film provides a unique blend of action, comedy, and drama that has enthralled worldwide Netflix viewers. So what are you watching this week?
