But on the brighter side, the streaming giant is recouping with just as many renewals that can turn the mood board around.
In case you were too upset to notice, here are four recent Netflix renewals that deserve all the buzz. So, dear fans, you might as well keep an eye out!
Four recent Netflix renewals that have netizens on cloud nine
The Gentlemen (Guy Ritchie, Eran Creevy, Nick Rowland, David Caffrey, and Nima Nourizadeh, 2024-Present)
It is rare for a Netflix show to earn a renewal before a new season could even premiere on the platform. Then again, The Gentlemen is anything but ordinary. Serving as the spin-off of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, the second season of the black-comedy crime thriller premiered in September, leaving viewers glued to their screens thanks to Duke Eddie Horniman’s return as the now-unforgiving crime lord.
Determined to expand his criminal enterprise from the Halstead estate into Europe, the sophomore season of The Gentlemen has Eddie pulling up his socks in an attempt to decriminalise marijuana by banking on his resourceful connections and aristocratic status. But as tensions arise between cross-border crime bosses, putting the stability of his kingdom through a trial by fire, violent confrontations take centre stage and force Eddie to shed his reluctant skin once and for all.
Now, with a third season in the works, expect more adrenaline-fueled plot twists your way!
Crew Girl (Normal Buckley, Amanda Tapping, Simon Barry, Jacquie Gold, and Alysse Leite-Rogers, 2026-Present)
Netflix’s YA lineup has viewers craving more every week. So, as a wish-granting factory, the streaming giant made dreams come true by renewing Crew Girl for a second season, just weeks after its debut season premiere. The coming-of-age teen drama follows 16-year-old single-scull rower Teagan Tao, whose seemingly perfect life spirals into chaos and disgrace after her father gets entangled in a massive financial fraud.
Left with no option, Teagan and her mother, Ella, leave their lavish life in Los Angeles and move to a small, quaint East Coast town called Eagle’s Cove, where they live in Ella’s childhood home. Plucked abruptly from her promising life back home, Teagan already feels like a fish out of water when she joins the elite Easton Prep. But to her shock, there’s no girls’ rowing team in her new school, which means she now has to force her way into the boys’ varsity crew as the coxswain, where a love triangle awaits.
The Beast in Me (Antonio Campos, Lila Neugebauer, and Tyne Rafaeli, 2025-Present)
Although conceived originally as a limited series, Netflix made a welcome exception for The Beast in Me, renewing it for a second season recently. The debut instalment of the hit psychological thriller centres on grieving author Aggie Wiggs, who’s trying to recover from a writer’s block after the tragic car crash that killed her young son, Cooper. As bills and debts start to pile up, she and her agent realise they are on the clock.
But the one thing Aggie keeps missing is inspiration. So, when a charismatic billionaire real estate mogul, Nile Jarvis, largely suspected of murdering his missing first wife, Madison, moves next door, Aggie’s reclusive routine takes a backseat as she gets dangerously drawn to his enigmatic persona, embarking on a deadly cat-and-mouse psychological duel that only pushes her into the darker territories. While The Beast in Me season one culminates with a fascinating conclusion, season two marks Aggie’s return, and you’d better buckle up!
A Different World (Debbie Allen and Felicia Pride, 2026-Present)
Netflix’s A Different World sequel series comes exactly 39 years after the original show’s premiere. So, it’s only natural that fans are simply not done with one season. The sequel sitcom follows Deborah Wayne, the youngest daughter of the original characters Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert, as she enrols on Hillman College for her freshman year, actively trying to outgrow the shadow of her well-meaning but overbearing parents.
After entering the prestigious academic hall, Deborah quickly reconnects with Shaquille, the son of Ron Johnson from the OG NBC sitcom. A Different World sequel series centres on Deborah’s freshman year as she forms deep connections and friendships, navigating personal and interpersonal drama that are very on-brand for college-goers. The Netflix series was officially renewed for a second season just eight days after its premiere on October 2nd, so expect Deborah and co to return for the sophomore year soon!
