Four new documentaries coming to Netflix this July
Worst Neighbour Ever (Cynthia Childs, 2026)
Netflix is expanding its true-crime documentary catalogue with a highly anticipated series titled Worst Neighbour Ever, directed by Cynthia Childs, the brain behind Worst Ex Ever. Premiering July 1st, the docu-series sheds light on the dark sides of community living, focusing on four separate, equally shocking, if not more, cases where daily neighbour quarrels and confrontations spiral out of control in ways unimaginable.
Make no mistake, these are not petty cases of noisy or nosy neighbours. Worst Neighbour Ever explores four chilling cases of neighbourhood feuds that sparked immeasurable harassment, violence, and even fraud. The episodes are constructed with eyewitness accounts, exclusive police bodycam footage, and interviews that uncover dark realities, urging the audience to stay aware of the surroundings they inhabit.
Miguel Ángel Blanco: The 48 Hours That Changed Spain (Jon Sistiaga and Juanjo López, 2026)
Arriving on July 10th, Miguel Ángel Blanco: The 48 Hours That Changed Spain is a crucial Netflix documentary that recounts the tragic real-life kidnapping of 29-year-old Spanish councilman Miguel Ángel Blanco in July 1997. The Basque separatist organisation, ETA, abducted him, giving the government a 48-hour deadline to transfer imprisoned members of the group to the Basque Country, pushing the countrymen into a two-day nightmare as they hoped for Blanco’s survival.
Arriving just in time for Blanco’s 29th death anniversary, Miguel Ángel Blanco: The 48 Hours That Changed Spain revisits the government’s stance, which sparked an agonising wait for the public, ultimately resulting in the councilman’s assassination and massive public outrage across Spain. The documentary features over 30 testimonies from major historical figures, including a former Prime Minister, Blanco’s family members, and members of the royal family.
Shipwrecked: Nightmare at the Sea (Roland May, 2026)
Also coming to Netflix on July 10th is Shipwrecked: Nightmare at the Sea, a gripping documentary exploring the tragic 2012 sinking of the Costa Concordia, a luxury cruise ship. The ship set sail in January 2012 with over 4,000 passengers and crew along the Mediterranean Sea, when the humongous vessel veered off its route to perform a sail-by-salute near the shore of Isola del Giglio, misjudging the potential impact it could cause.
As the ship launched into the rocky waters, it resulted in a giant hole in its hull, partially drowning the Costa Concordia on the spot as water flooded the engine rooms and caused the ship to immediately lose power. Shipwrecked: Nightmare at the Sea features exclusive, never-before-seen footage captured by passengers and crew, alongside first-hand survivor testimonies.
A Toxic Love Story (Alexandra Lacey, 2026)
Scheduled for release on July 22nd, A Toxic Love Story is a gritty true-crime documentary that revisits a chilling stalking incident that will promptly make you question: who is the victim and who is the villain? The documentary revolves around a newly married couple who start receiving threatening emails from a mysterious sender by the user ID “Lilithistruth,” which indicates only one person: the husband’s ex.
But after the suspect is arrested, one would think that’s the end, right? Well, not really. As the investigation progresses, it becomes all the more unclear what the truth really is and what the lie is. A Toxic Love Story explores a Californian community’s unravelling at the exposure of a dark underbelly of a seemingly perfect life, that’s laced with betrayal, deceit, and a violent fantasy scheme.
