Five similar Netflix series to watch if you loved ‘Off Campus’
Off Campus is having a big moment. Between the Garrett Graham edits floating around TikTok and BookTok readers celebrating their favourite romance finally making it to the screen, the series has become one of the most talked-about young adult dramas of the year.
Set at Briar University, the show follows Hannah Wells, a music student who has zero interest in getting distracted from her goals, and Garrett Graham, the campus hockey star who is used to getting his way. Their arrangement starts out simple enough, but then feelings get involved, obviously, which, as every romance fan knows, is exactly where things start getting interesting.
The funny thing is that Off Campus already had a huge audience before a single episode premiered. Elle Kennedy’s novels spent years building a loyal fan base, especially on BookTok, where Hannah and Garrett’s story became a favourite recommendation for readers searching for college romance. So when the adaptation was announced, expectations were high, and thankfully for fans, the series delivered.
Of course, once you’ve spent an entire season rooting for Hannah and Garrett, finding another show capable of filling that gap is easier said than done, but the good news is that Netflix has plenty of romance dramas featuring unforgettable couples and enough relationship drama to keep the obsession going. If you’re not ready to move on from Off Campus, these five series deserve your attention next.
Five similar Netflix series to watch if you loved Off Campus
XO, Kitty (2023–)
If the relationship drama in Off Campus was your favourite part, XO, Kitty deserves to be first on your watchlist. The third season of the show just came on Netflix and was a huge hit. The two shows exist in different worlds, but both understand that romance becomes a lot more complicated once emotions enter the picture, and trust me, Kitty Song Covey discovers that very quickly. The series follows Kitty, the younger sister from the To All the Boys films, as she moves to Seoul to attend the Korean Independent School of Seoul.
Her plan is simply to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, Dae, to finally experience the romance she has spent years imagining, but things do not go according to plan, and between unexpected secrets and new friendships, the feelings get complicated, and Kitty finds herself in a situation that becomes messier with every episode. Part of the fun comes from watching Kitty figure things out in real time, for she is impulsive and always ends up in unplanned situations. Much like Hannah and Garrett in Off Campus, the characters are forced to confront feelings they would rather avoid.
My Life with the Walter Boys (2023–)
Before Off Campus became the latest obsession among romance fans, another BookTok favourite was already making waves on Netflix, and that was My Life with the Walter Boys, which found an audience that could not get enough of its central love triangle. Although it has more in common with The Summer I Turned Pretty, this will give you that ‘choices’ drama just like in Off Campus. Here, we have Jackie Howard, a teenager whose life changes overnight after a family tragedy leaves her orphaned. Forced to move from New York City to rural Colorado, she finds herself living with the Walter family and sharing a house with a seemingly endless number of boys.
Among them are Alex Walter, who is sweet and dependable, and Cole Walter, whose reputation and attitude make him harder to figure out, and thus, what starts as an adjustment to a completely new life turns into something far more complicated. Jackie finds herself caught between two brothers while also trying to decide who she wants to become in this unfamiliar environment. While Off Campus focuses on one central romance, My Life with the Walter Boys talks about the emotional push and pull of a love triangle, as well as trying to find oneself.
Elite (2018–2024)
Let’s get one thing out of the way: Elite is nowhere close to Off Campus, apart from being a school drama. It is much more chaotic and complicated, but if relationship drama was the reason you raced through Hannah’s and Garrett’s story, this Netflix Spanish hit might be exactly what you need next. Set at Las Encinas, one of Spain’s most exclusive private schools, the series begins when Samuel, Nadia, and Christian receive scholarships following the collapse of their public school. Their arrival is not welcome, of course, as the rich kids don’t like them, and that creates tension with wealthy students such as Guzmán, Marina, Carla, and Lu. Class differences, rivalries, friendships, romances, and secrets…this show has every spice for every palate.
Unlike Off Campus, Elite adds darker tones of murder investigations and mystery to the mix. Every season introduces new twists and relationships that can change in an instant, and yet, beneath all the drama, Elite also explores teens and their character development. One of the reasons it became such a global phenomenon is how it made every relationship feel important. The emotional investment is always high, just like in Off Campus. Doesn’t sound that different after all, does it?
Never Have I Ever (2020–2023)
Devi Vishwakumar would probably have very different opinions on romance than Hannah Wells, but, then again, that is exactly what makes Never Have I Ever such an entertaining watch. Created by Mindy Kaling, the series is the story of Devi, a high-achieving brown teenager, trying to get into an Ivy League while coping with the loss of her father (don’t worry, it’s not anything too serious). At the same time, she is determined to improve her social status and finally get the romantic experiences she believes she has been missing, and predictably, her plans rarely work out the way she expects.
Much of the story revolves around Devi’s complicated relationships with Paxton Hall-Yoshida and Ben Gross. Initially, it is just a love triangle, but the way Never Have I Ever explores teen problems is too realistic. There is grief to start with, and family expectations, while you make sure your friendships get equal weight. Off Campus takes place in college, and Never Have I Ever focuses on high school students, but both series understand that character growth matters just as much as romance. Hannah’s journey feels relatable because she evolves throughout the story, and the same can be said for Devi. By the end, you’ll find yourself just as invested in her personal growth as you are in her love life.
Heartbreak High (2022–2024)
When Heartbreak High premiered, many viewers expected another teen drama, but what they got instead was one of Netflix’s most talked-about young-adult series. The story begins when Amerie Wadia discovers that a secret map exposing students’ hookups has turned her school upside down, which leads to her friendship with Harper becoming strained. Before you know it, the tensions spread across the campus, and everyone is dealing with the fallout.
One of the show’s biggest strengths is its cast of characters. Amerie, Harper, Malakai, Quinni, Darren, and the rest of the group each receive thoughtful storylines, making it easy to become invested in their lives. Rather than focusing on a single romance, the series explores multiple relationships and the challenges that come with them. That is where the connection to Off Campus becomes clear. Both shows understand that audiences care about more than who ends up together; the appeal comes from watching characters make mistakes, grow from them, and figure out who they want to be. If you enjoyed the emotional side of Hannah and Garrett’s story, Heartbreak High has plenty of reasons to get attached to a new group.
