Five best limited series to watch on Netflix this weekend
One thing Netflix absolutely finds the utmost pleasure in is putting people in impossible situations and then giving them a few hours (we mean episodes) to get themselves out. Hey, yo, nobody is complaining about people because limited series are literally the bread and butter of Netflix at this point: the most watched and loved format of the platform.
With them, you don’t get time to get comfortable with a person whose life goes into shambles, but on the brighter side, you know there is a definite ending coming, which is great when you’re short on time.
One of our suggestions for this week: Keep Breathing, where you watch a woman getting stuck and rescuing herself from a Canadian forest, all within six episodes.
And if you are afraid of commitment and want a quick show that gets done in one sitting, then you can choose from the following five.
Five best limited series to watch on Netflix this weekend
HIS & HERS (2026)
HIS & HERS has had one hell of a 2026, for real, because the show got Netflix a whopping 104 million views and ended the first half of the year as Netflix’s most-watched show, so yes, all that chatter around Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal was very much proven. With Alice Feeney’s novel behind a murder mystery with marital rancour… you can see why people absolutely devoured the thing.
And once you get into what Anna Andrews and Jack Harper have been handed, bloody hell, you won’t believe them or yourself. Anna goes back to Dahlonega after an old school friend is murdered and finds Jack, her estranged husband, investigating the case. Of course, years of failed marriage have them so suspicious that they start passing it between each other. And why not? These two know every tell, every verbal sleight of hand the other can pull. But you, you need to watch to find out who’s telling the truth.
Keep Breathing (2022)
If you have a bad day at work, then watching Keep Breathing is going to be a great reminder that things could, in fact, be considerably worse because Melissa Barrera’s Liv Rivera gets on a small plane trying to reach Inuvik and ends up stranded in the Canadian wilderness after it crashes. Liv is a New York lawyer who is used to having things under control, so it is pretty funny watching her realise that none of her usual skills is much help out here.
And once you spend some time with her, you start noticing that surviving the crash is only half the headache because Liv has dragged years of old hurt into those woods with her, and the flashbacks start coming to him about why she keeps people at arm’s length in the first place. So the woman is both physically and mentally trapped, and the thrill is watching her solve it without losing mental stability.
Thai Cave Rescue (2022)
Yes, yes, we all know how this story ends: the boys survive, and the world celebrates, but Thai Cave Rescue still has you wondering how on earth these kids survived for so long.
Twelve boys from the Wild Boars football team head into Tham Luang cave with assistant coach Eak after practice, and then the rain comes. Before you know it, the passage floods and the route back disappears. Then we watch thirteen people trapped underground while their families wait outside with no idea what comes next.
And as crazy as this situation sounds, the rescue mission was even crazier. There was nearly no visibility, and the boys couldn’t dive. Almost all the plans those rescuers made were ruined by water, so divers and engineers were left trying to build a way out where one mistake could wreck those lives. Sure, they survive in the end, but the mission itself is a great story to witness.
The Asunta Case (2024)
The Asunta Case starts withRosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra reporting their 12-year-old daughter Asunta missing, and soon enough her body is found outside Santiago de Compostela. But just when it all looks too easy, we watch the police turn their heads towards the parents.
So, the people asking everyone to find their child are now the ones having their stories picked apart, and once the discrepancies start to show, you can hear those damn alarm bells ringing in your head. One detail doesn’t tally, then another and another, and soon enough, you find yourself suspecting them along with the police. Spoiler alert: Both were convicted in 2015, but nobody ever found out a clear motive!
The Trunk (2024)
The idea of a “contract marriage” already received enough shooting daggers, but The Trunk makes it even worse, because here marriage is something you can arrange through a company, keep for a year and then, in theory, leave behind when the contract runs out. If that sounds “practical” to you, then this limited series is exactly what you need.
Gong Yoo plays music producer Han Jeong-won, who ends up married to Noh In-ji, thanks in no small part to his ex-wife, who still seems determined to meddle in his life. Well, it’s a K-drama; of course feelings start getting involved, and soon enough we are in a no-boundary zone. And just when you begin wondering what this relationship drama has got to do with a trunk, a mysterious trunk is hauled out of a lake. Just one tip: things turn dark pretty soon, so enjoy the romantic tension while you can.
