‘His & Hers’ cracks Netflix’s all-time chart, toppling ‘The Night Agent’

Dee Johnson’s gritty six-part mystery thriller, His & Hers, was poised for skyrocketing success right from the outset. But even three months after its global premiere, the show is still not done leaving its mark on Netflix.

In the week dated April 6th to April 12th, the limited series starring Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson broke onto Netflix’s most popular English-language TV shows chart of all time. It toppled the first season of the beloved spy thriller, The Night Agent, which was previously ranked tenth.

As of now, His & Hers is positioned tenth on the all-time chart with 98million views amassed from 428million hours of viewing.

In addition to the intense thriller, Netflix’s most popular TV list comprises the first season of Wednesday at the top, Adolescence at number two, the fourth season of Stranger Things at number three and the fifth at four, the second of Wednesday at number five, Dahmer at number six, the debut season of Bridgerton at number seven, The Queen’s Gambit at number eight, and the third season of Bridgerton at number nine.

His & Hers premiered earlier this year in January, quickly becoming one of the hot topics of the streaming town. The mystery thriller adapts Alice Feeney’s novel of the same name, which follows an estranged couple, Anna, a former news anchor, and Jack, a veteran detective, who find themselves investigating the same case in the former’s home town.

Although Anna and Jack investigate the same case, they do so from opposing perspectives, leaving viewers to grapple with increasing psychological tension and shifting POVs. Despite spanning just six episodes, the show is packed with red herrings that will constantly make you want to change your guesses about the killer. And that alone makes it a page-turner.

While His & Hers excels as a binge-worthy title, the credit goes to the limited series format, which is currently dominating the streaming space.

In fact, short formats have been particularly beneficial for thrillers, allowing them to prosper without the demand for continued momentum through self-contained stories. As of now, His & Hers boasts 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, and its addition to Netflix’s most popular series chart of all time puts it in a league above.

So, if you’re yet to catch up with the high-stakes thriller, hope this convinces you to tune into His & Hers on Netflix.
