Has Netflix renewed You Season 4?

Netflix’s You has been renewed for a fourth season following the somewhat conclusive yet confounding ending of the third season. When will Netflix release You Season 4?

Although an announcement teaser has been released, Netflix has not yet confirmed the official dates. However, a late 2022 or an early 2023 release seems likely given how the third season was released in October of this year.

What happened in Netflix’s You Season 3?

Netflix’s You season three saw Love Quinn and Joe Goldberg as married parents to a baby boy named Henry whom they want to shield from the dangers of the world that prompts them to move to Madre Linde, a posh suburban neighbourhood with lies, deceit, infidelity and violence on the line, their relationship soon crumbles and they clash against one another.

Joe, calculating and conniving, is the ultimate victor as he stumps the murderous Love and leaves her to die in a blazing house, escaping unscathed to Paris, still trying to pursue Marianne, the librarian.

What will Netflix’s You Season 4 be about?

Since the show has only recently released the third season, new updates regarding the upcoming season are not easy to find. However, executive producer and showrunner Sera Gamble gave the audience a slight look into what season 4 might look like.

The series is based on Caroline Kepnes’ eponymous novel series. Gamble spoke to Variety and spoke about how the “twisted world view” of Goldberg in Kepnes’ novels left her “instantly obsessed”. She also showered praises on the cast and crew for being a rock throughout.

Despite Penn Badgley not being game initially, he was later convinced. Gamble said, “And it’s been thrilling to watch Penn bring Joe to a creepy yet compelling life.”

She expressed her gratitude towards Netflix for accommodating their ingenious vision. “We’re deeply grateful that Netflix has shown You such monumental support and that people around the world have enjoyed watching Joe really get it all very wrong over the past three seasons.”

According to her, “The whole You team is excited to explore new, dark facets of love in Season four.”
