Everything we know about ‘Bridgerton’ season three

Dearest gentle reader, Netflix’s hit period drama, Bridgerton, will be back with its highly anticipated third season sooner now than ever now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is officially over.

With this season, Bridgerton will bring a fresh twist to the Regency romance saga. We have already watched two Bridgerton siblings find the love of their lives following two different romantic paths. Now it’s time for Lady Whistledown herself to do some bodice-ripping of her own.

After the success of the first two seasons, the next instalment is set to explore the love story between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. So, yes, Polin season is almost upon us!

As we eagerly await the release of Birdgerton season three, here’s a comprehensive rundown of what we know so far.

What is Bridgerton season three about?

Unlike the sequential adaptation of Julia Quinn’s novels in the first two seasons, Bridgerton season three takes a significant detour this season. Season three will be focusing on the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton

The story revolves around the third Bridgerton sibling, Colin and the witty Penelope. After the events of season two, Penelope, revealed to be the mysterious Lady Whistledown to her dearest friend Eloise, navigates the challenges of seeking a husband while maintaining her secret identity to the world.

Colin, missing Penelope’s company, offers to assist her, leading to unexpected consequences. The season promises a mix of scandalous love affairs and drama. Nicola Coughlan and Bridgerton intimacy coordinator Lizzy Talbot have already teased fans with “furniture-breaking” romps heading our way.

How does Queen Charlotte set up Bridgerton season three?

The spin-off series Queen Charlotte introduced a compelling storyline for Violet Bridgerton. As one of the widowed matriarchs in the show, Violet contemplates rediscovering pleasure, and perhaps even love, now that she is done mourning her late husband.

With her blooming friendship with Lady Danbury, things might get exciting for the older crowd on Bridgerton now as well. While a remarriage for Violet in season three seems unlikely, the prospect of courtship and scandalous developments have been set up.

Who is in the cast of Bridgerton season three?

The core cast of Bridgerton returns for the third season, with Jonathan Bailey as Anthony, Ashley Simone as Kate Sharma, Ruth Gemmell as Violet, Claudia Jessie as Eloise, Luke Thompson as Benedict, Luke Newton as Colin, Will Tilston as Gregory, and Florence Hunt as Hyacinth.

Nicola Coughlan reprises her role as Penelope Featherington, the central character for this season. However, Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne Bridgerton will not make a return in season three. New additions include Hannah Dodd, who will be replacing Ruby Stokes to play Francesca Bridgerton, and Hannah New as Lady Tilley Arnold.

Bridgerton season three is headed to Netflix in 2024. Bridgerton’s eight-episode third season will air in two parts, with the first instalment coming on May 16th, and the second on June 13th.
