Every Netflix Original cancelled in January 2022

There has been an ongoing joke on Twitter where netizens have been begging Netflix to take over the pandemic. The reason? It would not last beyond three seasons!

Netflix has a wide variety of content planned for 2022. However, they are notorious for cancellations of Netflix Originals without providing any reason. From poor viewership counts to creative indifferences, many times, the streamer has cancelled fan-favourites, leading to massive outrage.

Recently, after cancelling the live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop– starring John Cho, Daniella Pineda, Mustafa Shakir etc.- after just one season, fans launched an online petition to resuscitate the show.

After cancelling bug names like Dash & Lily, Cursed, Jupiter’s Legacy etc. in 2021, Netflix has built itself quite the reputation. Despite coming back with hordes of returning Originals in 2022, people are concerned about what shows will come to an end this year.

While January 2022 has seen the arrival of a variety of new shows, including Archive 81, Stay Close, Ozark and more, there have been a few cancellations as well.

Here are the Netflix originals that have been cancelled in January 2022:

Netflix shows cancelled in January 2022

Gentefied (Marvin lemus, Linda Yvette Chavez, 2020)

Created in 2020, this comedy series followed the life of three Mexican-American cousins as they struggled hard to live the famous American Dream. However, their dream might sabotage all things dear to them, including their immigrant family and their taco shop that sends them tumbling down a hilarious series of escapades.

A brilliant, amusing and personal take on gentrification, despite a generally favourable reception, the show was cancelled after two seasons, on January 13th, 2022, much to the chagrin of fans. The news of the cancellation, however, catapulted it into Netflix US’s Top 10 TV shows for more than a week.

Cooking With Paris (Paris Hilton, 2021)

After her lasagna video went viral during the pandemic in 2020, hotelier and fashion mogul, Paris Hilton started the titular YouTube channel that was soon made into a show by Netflix. In her luxurious kitchen, Hilton was seen whipping up recipes with her high-profile celebrity guests while sharing “important stories”. These guests included Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Nikki Glaser, Lele Pons as well as her mother and sister.

Despite the lavish and grandiose setting, Hilton’s show failed to leave an impression on Netflix viewers. It got cancelled after just one season, on January 17th, 2022. However, it does not seem to bother the former model who is busy promoting her Peacock series that deals with her engagement and marriage to her current husband.
