Netflix had a huge clear-out on September 1st, with more than 80 films and series just flying away from the platform, including Rocky and Creed, so it decided to show us some mercy, and hence, this week feels civilised. Still, do not get comfortable; Netflix is still snatching things.

First up is Poor Things, leaving on September 7th, and if Yorgos Lanthimos’ peculiar 2023 fantasy has been languishing in your watchlist… this is the moment! Emma Stone’s audacious turn as Bella Baxter won her Best Actress, while the film collected four Oscars.

And you won’t want to miss this one because come on! If you have spent months promising yourself “another night”, Netflix has now given the perfect catalyst to indecision: a deadline.

Also leaving on September 7th is Redeeming Love, adapted from Francine Rivers’ novel, while the Korean period drama Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist, loses its first season too, so if you enjoy period dramas with plenty of emotion, consider this a nudge.

Then comes Bombshell on September 10th, with Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie leading the Fox News drama, while its Oscar-winning makeup and hairstyling add extra fascination. Huh, looks like Netflix is on a run to steal all the award winners this week

The biggest television farewell lands on September 11th, when all eight seasons of Girlfriends disappear, and with Mara Brock Akil’s sitcom spanning 172 episodes… good luck calling this a casual weekend binge! Eight seasons do not squeeze themselves into forty-eight hours.

Anime fans get one warning on September 13th, when Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato departs, continuing Ikoma’s fight against the Kabane, and being removed as a Netflix Original makes the exit sting more.

Elsewhere, Clifford the Big Red Dog leaves on September 9th, Jobs follows on September 10th, and Revenge of the Green Dragons goes on September 11th, so no… this is nowhere near last week’s bloodbath, thank goodness! But if Poor Things or Girlfriends has been gathering dust, consider this your prod to press play.
