Four exciting Netflix anime to keep an eye out for
Netflix’s anime cupboard is far from bare; in fact, a whole new fashion lineup is ready to dazzle fans, especially in the last few months of 2026. Ohh, there is some serious anime business on Netflix then, with new shows and some big sequels on the way. So, no, the anime train has not stopped.
September starts things off with Mononoke the Movie: Chapter III – The Curse of the Serpent. And wow, this one looks made for the big screen. Then, October barges in with Blue Box Season 2 and Ranma1/2 Season 3. Two big returns in one month? You think Netflix might be pranking you, but no. And then November brings Fool Night, which has such a bizarre idea behind it that, well, you just have to see what happens.
Oh, and we are not done yet. BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai Part 2 is also on Netflix’s 2026 list. A quiet few months for anime fans? Ha! Not a chance.
But wait, there is more. Four titles stand above the rest, and these are the ones making the most noise. Big fanbases and serious hype? Check and check. So, hurrah! These are the four Netflix anime you will definitely want to keep an eye on.

STEEL BALL RUN JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure – 2nd STAGE (September 25th, 2026)
If you remember, the first STAGE of Steel Ball Run gave us only 47 minutes, but good grief, it covered some ground. Johnny Joestar, a former jockey who cannot use his legs, crossed paths with the oddball Gyro Zeppeli and entered a $50million horse race across 19th-century America, hoping to understand Gyro’s mysterious Spin technique. Yes, it starts as a colossal cross-country horse race, but before you know it, it starts showing its stranger colours, because this is JoJo, and normality was never going to survive the journey.
The 2nd STAGE is coming to Netflix on September 25th, and it pushes Johnny and Gyro into the desert and towards the Devil’s Palm, and we don’t mean it metaphorically. There is a place named that where the race takes a turn into much murkier territory. Mountain Tim, Hot Pants and US President Funny Valentine also enter the picture, widening the cast as the story expands. Eleven episodes are coming weekly on Fridays, so this particular gallop will not be over in one sitting. Prepare accordingly!
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 (October 20th, 2026)
Not many leave the same bruise as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners did, following David Martinez from a desperate Arasaka student to a mercenary swallowed whole by Night City’s obsession with chrome and survival. By the finale, his story had run its course, so the follow-up is not trying to undo any of it.
Instead, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 starts afresh with a new ten-episode story built around redemption and revenge, along with a different set of characters finding out, presumably the hard way, what Night City does to anyone who gets too comfortable. Studio Trigger and CD Projekt Red are returning, while Kai Ikarashi is going to direct, and Kanno Ichigo handles character design. Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka are also back on story duties, which should help the sequel keep some of the first series’ bite.
SAKAMOTO DAYS Season 2 (January 2027)
After all the gloom of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, SAKAMOTO DAYS brings a lighter fun to the mix. Season one followed Taro Sakamoto, a legendary assassin who gave up killing, got married and opened a small shop. Of course, retirement did not last long. His old life came knocking, Shin joined him, and Slur soon became the biggest threat hanging over everyone.
Season two takes Sakamoto and Shin to JCC, the school where assassins are trained, as they look for more information about Slur. And yes, things get silly very fast. Sakamoto even goes undercover dressed as his wife, Aoi, while pretending to be a teacher. Sounds fun, right? Oh, it is. There are also several new characters joining the story, including Amane, Satota and Yotsumura. The new season is also expected to reveal more about Sakamoto’s past with Nagumo, Rion and Slur, so this one should have plenty of action and lots and lots of madness too.
THE ONE PIECE (February 2027)
And then there is THE ONE PIECE, which sounds as though Netflix misplaced the original and ordered another one. Fear not: this is neither a sequel to the long-running Toei anime nor an extension of Netflix’s live-action series. WIT Studio is going back to square one and adapting Eiichiro Oda’s manga from the beginning, starting with East Blue, where Monkey D. Luffy sets sail to become King of the Pirates and begins putting together the Straw Hat crew.
That makes the February 2027 release a chance to retell one of anime’s great behemoths with a new production rather than wedging another story beside the existing show. WIT, which made the early seasons of Attack on Titan and co-produces SPY x FAMILY, has Masashi Koizuka directing. Netflix says Oda’s manga has passed 600million copies worldwide. No pressure, then. East Blue is sailing again.
